my son would like to go to fuerteventura ive read the resort reports, but cant decide, my teenage son has special needs and he really wants to go to the sand dunes, our ideal resort would be not too far a transfer a superb beach, not too much hustle and bustle, quiet but with shops restrurants ect, we dont want 18- 30 resort but not a deadly quiet place with nothing there,
ive seen some georgous beaches but not sure what resort id have to be in
any help would be great as im going around in circles,
thanks
Hi. The sand dunes are just outside the resort of Corralejo . Transfer time from airport about 45 mins. There are 152 beaches on the island. On most you will see nudists. The best beaches are in the south. Our favourite is Sotavento,it goes on for miles & miles. Do hire a car to explore.
hi
Because you dont drive , need not be a problem. Taxis are cheap to get to the Correlejo dunes etc.. Organised excursions are a good way of seeing the island. Book in resort though, not through travel rep.if going on a package.
I walked there and passed lots of hotels and apartments on the way so depending on where you are staying you may be able to walk there.
If you have Google earth you can see how near to the resort the sand dunes are.
we stayed in an apartment that gave free bus trips to the dunes all through the day and return, about 10 minutes top on the free uncrowed bus, love the beaches there
as long as the resort has a lovely beach and not too far from airport and sand dunes
we'll be there
been looking at beaches on the net grandes playas just outside corralejo is it within walking distance
just looking up photos on beaches as ive never been to fuerteventura before and a lot of the beaches are lovely
cotillo beach looks nice can anyone tell me what resort this beach is thanks
El Cotillo is the name of village. I say village but it growing rapidly. The beaches here are beautiful. Its our favourite next to Sotovento in the south.

The closest resort to the airport is Caleta (known as Costa Caleta or Caleta de Fuste), a lovely resort, great for families, no rowdy clubs but unfortunately not the best beach (man-made with imported sand.)
The best beaches are probably in the south, Jandia, Costa Calma etc. The south, however, is quite a long transfer from the airport.
The famous dunes are just outside Corralejo in the north, although there are only a couple of (expensive) RIU hotels actually in the area of the dunes. Corralejo town is quite busy in high season and is also a long-ish airport transfer.
When we have stayed in Corralejo TOWN we either book a taxis from UK web site, or book hire car for airport pickup. In either case from Airport to Corralejo is about 45mins.
thanks everyone for your replies, been a good help
