I'm using some of my inheritence from my Nan to treat hubby and I to a weekend in Copenhagen. Already have a few ideas of things to do and see. Not hiring a car so would use bus/train, would it be doable to get to Legoland and back in a day? Am guessing we'd have to be up very early. Would be more for hubby then me.
Places to go and things to see list
Open top bus tour of city (plan to do this Friday afternoon (will be getting to hotel just before lunchtime)
City tour which includes boat trip of canals and harbour (includes Little Mermaid Statue)
Tivoli Gardens (I know the rides are the biggest part, hubby will enjoy watching me go on them), once rides are doen we'll do rest of park. Plan on doing this saturday afternon/evening as I've read that the fireworks display is quite spectacular.
Possibles are Carlsberg factory (have been told this is quite interesting), Viking Ship Museum (only know it exists, need to do some research to find out more unless anyone has been and knows what it's like), my Pastor has suggested the sailor's homes, (he was in Copenhagen with his family a few years ago for a holiday). We'll be leaving Copenhagen on the Tuesday morning so only have 3.5 days and obviously would like to see as much as possible although my pastor's family have hinted that we could see a good amount in that time. I'm passionate about History, hubby likes History but only as far as looking at things like buildings. I know he'd be interested in the ship museum and the sailor's homes. Am hoping to inspire him to be more interested in History by taking him to places I know he'll like.
Anything I've missed or anything on my list that could be replaced with something else?
I know that I need to pack warm clothes in case wind is from North or West, live in Northern Ireland so am well used to cold winds.
Last point is trip is surprise for hubby, have told him that I've needed to ask Mum and dad to help me out with his birthday present (am getting him something else for birthday, trip is just weekend away). No idea how I'm going to get packed without him getting suss.
Danish railways site in English is http://www.dsb.dk/cs/Satellite?pagename=DSBUK/Forside - thankfully it loads much faster than the Danish version but neither give any clue as to whether there are any inclusive travel/entrance deals. The Journey Planner has details of the local bus. The main station in Copenhagen is København H and Legoland is a location in the database.
Legolands own site http://www.legoland.dk/?lc=en takes so long to load on dial-up that I gave up - it might have details of inclusive deals.
Thanks Steve. That makes it not very doable in a day. Weekend is mainly for some chill time. There's so much to do in Copenhagen anyway. Hubby will be happy if we find a toy shop that has a Lego model or 2 on display. I'm more into Geomag though.
