Hi Andy,
Just back from the Gran Hotel, Costa Meloneras last week after a wonderful 14 day holiday. To answer your quetions, firstly the rooms are on the first 5 floors and floor 3 would be a good choice for a pool view and for climbing the stairs.
The hotel provides each person with a beach towel but there is no problem using your own or as well! They are quite strict about putting towels down at the crack of dawn to reserve your space so be careful!
Although we only went B&B, there does not seem to be any problem with dress code. I certainly did not see people with shirt, tie and jacket. I would however bring a pair of slacks just in case you want to eat in one of the better restaurants. There are 4 or 5 restaurants in the complex of varying standard and cost.
All in all, a very enjoyable stay and a lovely holiday. If you need any more inf please let me know.
Best regards,
George
many thanks for you post.
I'm glad you had a great holiday.
This hotel really dose look out of this world.
I have been looking at an Ariel picture of this hotel on Google earth.
George, I'm trying to find out about the pool they call 'Ladon'....
If you have your little map of the hotel handy could you tell me the shape of this pool please??
I I'm given to understand it's to the left as you walk out side with the infinity pool in front of you.
So, is the Ladon pool oblong (square) or 'shaped'???
Thanks George,
Andy.
Sorry it took so long but I had to get home and search fot the map. Unfortunately you cannot upload files here otherwise I would have sent you a pdf of the map. Anyway, to find the pool:
go out to the back of the hotel and face the Lago pool (Infinity Pool) there are two routes you can take, to the left or to the right of this pool ... go down the left side. You will be walking towards the back gate (handy shortcut to the promenade, restaurants, shops, bars and the beach if you get tired of the hotel. You will then see the Ladon pool on your left. It is hard to describe but it's a sort of oblong shape with a bit jutting out the top!
I hope this helps. Again, any more info required just let me know.
George
Hi George,
Andy - the Ladon pool is very nice and a bit quieter/more adult focussed than the others. It also has some rooms which directly front it with their own private terrace and sunbeds. When I asked at reception about them I was told they are just normal pool view rooms, but you have to request them very early. Might be worth a try ?
Fab hotel, by the way. Our favourite in the Canaries.
