Hi gary...We've been to Cuba three times, but always the last week in November/first week in December..

Early november is closer to the end of the hurricane season, it could be a bit windy, with some showers, but you can still expect some fine days....

As for resort areas, well take your pick... we prefer the Varadero area, but have friends who prefer Guardalavaca... the cayos are popular as well...

Our expert, SMa will probably be along later...

Hi Garyholc, by the time I read you query here I picked up from another of your posts that you had decided on Thailand for this November instead of Cuba, hence why I didn't reply. But if that's not the case let me know.

I tend to give a wide swerve to the tourist beach resorts so there will be others here best placed to make suggestions on those for you but re the weather, all bar one of my trips to Cuba have been in July/August at the height of the hurricane season and whilst the weather can be more unsettled up until the end of November you'll still get plenty of hot sunny weather. I'm planning my next trip at the moment and it's a toss-up between this October or the following March but the main reason for debating between the two is being able to negotiate the time off from work and not the weather. March is more 'doable' for that reason and whilst it will be less humid at that time of year if October had been easier to get the time i'd have gone then even though it is still well within the Hurricane season and earlier than you'd have been going and hence probably more unsettled.

The thing to remember is that during the summer storm/hurricane season it does rain more than at other times but it still doesn't rain all the time - it just means that you get really heavy but short, sharp downfalls. An hour after it starts, the rain has stopped and the steam starts to rise from the ground as the hot sun comes out again. I just treat the later afternoon heavy rain as an excuse to duck into the nearest bar and have a mojito :cheers
