I'm sure someone will correct me if this has changed, but a few weeks ago the Turkish government decided that foreigners could no longer buy property in Turkey.

As we all know, Turkish law changes with the wind and depending on which area of Turkey you are in, but at the moment they have put a blanket ban on all foreign purchases. I am sure this will be lifted in the future, but can somebody else shed some light on this.

Yet more disinformation the Turkish gov suspended a land law ammendment which was put in place in 2003 and cancelled on 27th July 2005. The new ammendment has been produced and is awaiting acceptance and the government have stated it is a priority as they know how much it is hurting the foreign trade. if you go and look at a place now you will not be able to contract it until the new ammendment is in place- so if your asked to sign a contract now WAIT until the new ammendment has been passed and everyone know what it says. By the way before the ammendment was in place in 2003 some 23,000 foriegn purchases were made.

Bryn,

Thanks for clarifying. Not surprised the information I got was slightly off-key, it did come from a Turkish newspaper and we all know how accurate they are!!
