I am looking to be staying in Varadero area so anyone recomend good trips for there?

Just back from a fab fortnight in Varadero , we enjoyed the single day trip to Havana although it was a bit hectic and if we go again would maybe do an overnight . Worth remembering lots of places ( markets , museums etc ) are closed on mondays .

Catamaran cruise was great included a nice lunch on Cayo Blanco , dolphin show
and a 2 hour sunset cruise . Would have liked to see Trinidad but two couples we met recommended an overnight and two other couples had tried the one-day and both suggested it requires ten hours on a bus for the return trip from varadero .

Prices seem to be much the same either via rep ( our First Choice rep Tania was excellent ) or direct thru cubanacan . We met one group who hired a car to do Havana in one day , there is a tourist coach thru Viazul but we certainly would recommend having a guide to make sense of so much to see in a memorable but tight-packed city .

Hope this helps , would certainly go back to Cuba not just for the beach .

I would also recommend the catamaran trip to Cayo Blanco. Its great fun and they also include some snorkeling if you like that. The whole experience was really good.
If I remember rightly, it was £52 per person for the catamaran trip.
We are going to Playa Pesquero in october, I think they do a catamaran trip there also, will have to enquire.
Have fun in varadero, I am sure you will love it!

PS We went to the Iberostar Varadero hotel, highly recommended.

We have just returned from Playa Pesquero and there is a catamaran trip that you can book through your rep...can't remember the price though but we found that the trips were fairly expensive. The hotel though is fantastic and we had a great time there and are planning to return next march. Have a good holiday
