2 years ago stayed at The Conought Hotel right on Conought Circus. Good centeral position. Very clean and comfortable but not outstanding, I would say good 3 star type. Cost then was about £32 per room. Booked with Indian Tourist desk at Delhi Airport. Very helpful, free service and even bartered the room rate down.
clean and comfortable will do me! Also I like the fact it is a central position as some hotels seem to be way out of the way.Thanks- will have a look at it
I have been given Singh Sons, Sun Court Yatri and Sun Star Grand as options. Has anyone stayed at any of these?
I'm staying at Singhsons in March, heard it's fine but will let you know on my return.
thanks Chris- I can't find reviews on it anywhere.

I'd certainly recommend staying in the central area, during my stay I ended up miles from anywhere. I was totally at the mercy of the taxi drivers to do anything.
The hassles from taxi drivers in Delhi are the worst I've experienced in India. I arrived by train and as soon as I set foot on the platform I had "taxi, taxi, hotel, hotel" merchants hassling me all the way to the exit. Eventually I gave in to one of them (I had intended to go to the per-paid office, but never got close to it). The taxi stopped for petrol half-way to the hotel in the middle of nowhere and he gave the impression that if I didn't give him cash for the petrol (on top of the fare) he'd leave me stranded there.
I'd didn't venture far, other than paying over the odds for the hotel taxis.
Geoff
we are now down to one night actually in Delhi so it shouldn't be so bad and the tour people are collecting us at the airport- thank god!
