I know its a daft subject, but everyone I have spoken to who has been to Benidorm says that Rays Chippy is a must. I've been to Benidorm a few times now, but can only find the wee one in the Old Town and the wee one on the main street (mediteraneo?), and I've heard the big one is the best.
I've asked a few people for directions and they always say "near the market", but I have no idea where the market is !!! I do know where the Indoor Market is, if that helps?????
Ray's III is closer to the outdoor market. The address I have is Edificio Lidersol, Avenida del Derramador. It's close to the Hotel Helios and Hotel Pueblo Benidorm.
thanks David
oooooh how do I get a scottish flag next to my name too?
This topic should help you out:
Hi Childersley, We personally prefer Sharkey's Fish and Chips to Rays. It is situated on the "Yellow Brick Road" If you know where that is. (It is on the path that goes up to the Rio Park Hotel) It is run by a couple from Leeds so I suppose that we're rather bias.
WE love the Codfather Fish and chip shop on the same road as the Ibrox bar, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
There is another Rays Chippy in the Old Town. This is a very good one, but its very small, and is located up one of the small side streets. The third one I believe is on the Ave De Meditaraneo, the end near the small area of shops set back off the main road.
Whichever one you use, you will be assured of some good old fashioned fish and chips.
I've not tried Rays III yet, only the one off Avenue Mediterraneo which I assume is Rays II. ....I thought the subject of Chips would get you interested Sue!!! Not tried Sharkeys but will give it a try at some point. Oh by the way Sue...did you know that the award for the best chippy in England is currently held by a chippy called Hodgsons which is in ....LANCASTER!! Think I'd Batter go now...I've a report to write!!
Hey Taggy, You've only been back a day and I've wound you up already I put that on for your benefit and it worked,
Damn!!...Trust me to take the Bait!! I'll tell your Dad over you!! I've never heard of it before but was on news a few days ago! ...Well on't sunny side ut Pennines that is! Bet you prefer Haddock to Cod dont you! Do they do both at Sharkys? Can you get scrapings there too?
Thanks for your replies guys, I will keep an aye out for them all !!!!
ok, I know I'm Scottish - but that should have been "I'll keep an eye out for them"
I'd recommend Sharkey's as well. The only way you'll get better fish is to "go local" and eat where the Spaniards eat.
We had some lovely cod and chips at Lorraine's last week.

Very nice indeed.
Do you mean 'Lorraines' the little place just opposite that derelict piece of waste ground with the overgrown grass and all the junk in it? On the road that leads along to the Rio Park? If so, I agree with you, this is another very good place to get some mouth watering fish and chips, and very reasonably priced as well.
Yes, that's the one.
