Hungary is now part of the EU. So if your friends are citizens of the UK or another EU country then they will be OK . In fact I visited Hungary in 1994 and I did not need a visa then ,although others in our party (including Canadians and Australians) did.

i was in budapest in march.you just need your passport.no visa required.if you need any more info,just ask.enjoy. :gluck
