All Teesside airport will tell me so far is that Globespan are still in talks with Teesside about providing flights to Alicante. It seems the FINAL Thomsonfly flights to Alicante go in April 2009-after that zilch! The only option for those from Teesside wanting a genuine package holiday to Benidorm is to drag all the way to Newcastle. Now the taxi fares up to there cost a LOT of money and if the flight is really early (as some are) you might even have to stay over in a hotel up there.What a nightmare. It's devastating for my family as we love going to Benidorm and live only 6 miles from Teesside airport.It was so easy.
Teesside airport are forever banging on about how they are an international airport and how they want to increase passenger numbers.This surely is not the way.

Globespan pulled out of the airport and this morning bmi announced the link to London Heathrow was being axed along with the Leeds-Heathrow link due to cost cutting

I'm guessing they are assuming passengers will migrate up to Newcastle and use the Aer Lingus and Ryanair routes

There's going to be nothing left!! We used to fly twice a year sometimes to Faro and now we have to hoof it to Newcastle or Leeds Bradford

Yes, there are flights to Dalaman on a Thursday (OHY4672/1) and Bodrum (OHY4468/1), plus others. Try Goldtrail.

Presumably you're on a flight departing from Durham Tees Valley? Have you got a flight number? There's no flight listings for May that I can see at the moment so I can't check.

OHY4504/3 isn't showing on any of the systems I have access to, that's not to say it's not running because these are specific charters. It could be the flights are full so they've been pulled from the system. I'm sure you'll have been notified by now if there have been changes. It might be worth giving Goldtrail / H4U a call if you have any concerns.

Theres a flight to dalaman on wednessdays (H4U) which has recently been changed to the morning, and then their adding another one in high seasons on a tuesday.

Goldtrail do Bodrum and dalaman on a Thursday.

I really think that airlines are being discouraged from flying from Teesside (sorry, can't get used to calling it DTV). There's been a lot of talk for years that they've wanted to turn it over to cargo and have to say I'm starting to think that's the way it's going to go.

It used to be quite an inviting place for all it was small, light, bright and airy but they've made a lot of changes inside the terminal that have made it downright dull and dreary. They've got rid of the arrival/departure screens from the cafe which seems absolutely ridiculous.

Someone somewhere has turned this thriving little airport into a shadow of it's former self and it's so so sad. Passengers are being shoved out to either Newcastle or Leeds Bradford with very little choice in the matter. It was always a very busy airport, yes it was small but it was always busy and it's almost like someone has taken the life out of it.

Totally agree Tis Only takes us 15 mins to get to Teesside. Pain in the bum to get to Newcastle due to continuous tail backs. Road to Leeds can be less busy but it's an hour and a half travel time
