Hi,

Was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to give me a brief synposis of some of the attractions in Edinburgh which im planning a 4 day holiday later this month although well be staying at Setton sands. I am originally from there and spent many childhood holidays there but not been back in 20 years.
Ill be travelling with my wife and 2 girls aged 11 and 2.

Thanks in advance

Hi,
Went to Edinburgh at Feb half term with hubby, kids 12 and 15 had a great few days. would recomend the following:

Zoo was good day out ( spent full day here). Also enjoyed the castle but might not be of great interest to a 2 year old!. Royal Museum was very good and , as bonus, is free. (chambers street).

Enjoy your trip.

It depends which Premier Travel Inn it is. There are 3. If its Laurieston Place or Morrison Street you're fine. These are walking distance from the City Centre. If its Willowbrae I wouldnt. Too far out.

doh ! sorry its the Laurieston Place one

thanks :D

Its in a good location, a few minutes walk from the old town, Royal Mile etc. A further 10/15 minutes to Princes Street and the new Town.

Hello, I am thinking of going up to Edinburgh for a weekend break and wanted to know if anybody knew the price of the taxi's from the airport to the city centre?
Cheers,
Dave

Depending on where you are staying and how many of you are going, you might find it cheaper to get the airport bus. It's £5 return per person. We normally get the bus into town and then get a taxi for the last bit of the journey to our hotel as it works out cheaper.

I just did a one nighter to Edinburgh to see a gig.
I got the bus into the centre for £3.00 which was easy enough.
Next morning I had to be at the airport early and the fare was £14.50. I got the cab from outside the Radisson SAS if that helps.

The airport bus is £5 return and is every 10 mins and think hourly in the wee hours. We always use this when in Edinburgh

The N22 night bus runs when the airport bus doesn't and you can use the Airport Bus ticket on it. You could have saved yourself £12.50

Hi,

Our friends have invited us to Edinburgh and would like some info on where to stay/eat/drink and what to see or do.

Has anyone got any advice?

We would like to be quite central but dont want to pay a kings randsom.

Thanks!

My daughter and her boyfriend have managed to get tickets for the New Years Eve party on Bank Street in Edinburgh.
Can anyone recommend any reasonably priced hotels or guest hotels? They can't really afford a lot and don't mind if its not right in the centre.
Thanks

EDIT: Merged with existing thread, which should hopefully provide some useful info

I know it can be a bit confusing - but the street party takes place on Princes Street not Bank Street! It is sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland and hence it's billed on the Hogmanay website as the Royal Bank Street Party but if they go to Bank Street they'll end up on the wrong side of the Royal Mile and Princes Street and gardens where all the action is! I'm sure that once they receive their party packs that all will become clear.

Hi there

Thinking of a short break in Edinburgh mid March this year. Birthday/anniversary treat. Any suggestions on nice reasonably priced hotels in the city centre/near castle.

Many thanks
