I hope to return the Egypt soon. I stayed at the Reef Oasis (sharm) for 1 week in Sept 06 & really enjoyed it. Would love to go back to Egypt sometime this yr but i don't think my partner is too keen, he's never been to Egypt before & to be honest he's heard some really bad reports from people at work on how basic some of the hotels are & how poor the food is. He's also read a good few reports online & that seems to put him off to, lots of hotels claiming to be 4*/5* & people saying they wouldn't give them a 2* .
Iv'e been trying my very very bestest to persuade him but at the moment i don't seem to be having much luck. Can anyone recommend any nice hotels with edible food that don't cost the earth, also with private beach + child freindly. I would go back to the Reef Oasis in a flash,, but that holiday was with an ex partner in 06 & i don't really want to go back there with my new partner.

It might be worth investigating some of the hotels that seem to be popular on here like The Red Sea Holiday Village, The Coral Sea Resort ane the Hilton Sharks Bay. I stayed at the first one and that is quite popular with families and recently stayed at the Hilton and that was fine as well, but more adult orientated. They all should ahve threads on here that you could read and ask questions on.
They have also opened a Coral Sea Splash Resort has its own waterpark and is new so that might be worth considering. Hopefully all these would be a similar standard to the Reef Oasis but they are in a different part of Sharm.

Were staying at the Tropicana Azure club for 2 weeks All Inclusive last 2 weeks in May. Has anyone else stayed here recently?
We are looking to book Gardenia Plaza resort 6 - 20 Aug 2012. Going to book via Travel Republic (used them last year when we booked Tropicana Grand Azure), but I'm a little confused with the room options - there's not much detail on which option gives you a a room with seperate bedroom? We are 2 adults and 2 children. If anyone has stayed here before and can shed some light, I'd love to hear form you!

I booked so late minione that I had to pay the whole lot up front, so no balance to pay off.
Tickets arrived from Thomas Cook this morning for holiday to El Gouna
It's years since I have had a booklet with tickets and travel documents, didnt know anyone still did them.
I must normally go cheap as I seem to have printed everything off myself on-line the last few years.

You must travel soon then Doe? Always get tickets in a little booklet with Direct or Thomas Cook.I love it when they arrive as you know it's not long to wait.Have a good one, look forward to your review.
Hiya, yes only a few weeks for us.Good Old Thomas Cook, I was wondering what was going to happen, I am such a numpty I kept looking on their web-site to see if I could print off my boarding cards.
Last 4 or 5 hols I have booked on-line with Cosmos or James Villas and you print off all your own stuff - guess it must be a money saving thing to keep costs down.

We only have 3 weeks to wait now . For some reason time stood still after I posted my 5 weeks to go update . I went into shock around Wed when Dave decided to check the calender . Sure there's something I should be doing in preparation but we are a dab hand at it now and I will print my EJ boarding cards off the night before

Its scary how quiet the forum is. Keep thinking I need to book an autumn holiday so that I have something else to post about, but seemed a bit extravagant.
I am sure you can just pack the night before like I do. Cant wait to see what El Gouna is like, supposed to be a marmite type of place, but if it's warm and someone brings me a drink while I am on a sunbed it will do for me.

You are probably right .. now who's the numpty Nothing extragavant about browsing for another . I need to look for another myself .
We are flying from Cyprus to Luxor later this summer so will go via Cairo from Larnaca airport.
The flights arrive late in the evening and our plan was for a Nile cruise but meant we would have missed our first "proper" day on the boat when everyone joins it so we decided to fly a couple of days earlier and have 2 nights in a hotel in Luxor first. Then we will have 7 nights on the MS Serenade before arriving back in Luxor and flying back to our island in the Med.
I daren't start to count the weeks as it still seems like it's so far away but I know it will come quickly enough.
There are six of us travelling at the moment but the numbers may grow. I put the info on my blog a while ago when I was putting the itinerary together: http://wp.me/p1uja5-1iJ
