Hi all
Looking to visit sharm in september 2010 and wondered if there's any good deals around that anyone can reccomend, be grateful for any tips and advice.
Thanks Michelle
We just come back from Sharm again it was fantastic and just booked my daughter up to go for her 21st Birthday done a DIY and saved over £400 on travel agents prices
Were are you from ? With having a user name as Poolie the town we come from we get called Poolie's thats all ?
Read reviews and once you know hotel that your looking for i dont mind giving you advice mind you we went to Cairo when we visted Sharm this time i caught E Coli bug over there so spoilt our 2 nd week stay but you should really enjoy it there is lots off people on this forum to give you advice.
We went 2 yrs ago in Aug / Sept time now im used to hot weather but over there in Sept if you are taking young children just be very careful off the heat drink at least 6 btls off water per day and you should be fine in most A/I hotel they provide free water just grab a few btls even for around the pool because most off the illness you get over there is caused by the heat.
If you happen to get the bad stomach/ cramps go to hotel doctor asap he will offer you injection and with in 2 hrs you should be fine this will cost you between £30 and £50 for injection in most hotels each hotel has its own doctor if not you will find one outside your hotel.
Its cost me £350 this time for all my medication off doctor while in Sharm and stil on Antibyotics now with it but think i was just unlucky and caught Ecoli and the Stomach Cramp etc thing altogether and we did drink 6 btls water per day and used the hand sanition wash.
First Choice have there prices out now for September just go onto there website we have used this company twice only because we like a certain hotel called the Coral Sea Resort and cant book this hotel via any other company but prices over the years have gone sky high for this hotel.
But there is lots more 5 star hotel avail via DIY holidays take a look at reviews and once you have a idea what you want from a hotel i.e on the beach etc etc lots off ppl will advise you
Also trips in Sharm once you have booked up email me ill give you contact number for a english guy we know who owns a bar in Naqa Bay does trips half the price than any one else he is fully insured too.
We flew to Cairo from sharm with him when to Museum in Cairo dinner on the nile went see Pyamids went to pyarsa factory perfume shop return flight all for £140 each we did intend to do quad biking cruise under water sumberine and star gazing trip in desert on our 2nd week but couldnt go due to me been ill but defo going next time and also you can book with him on line or he will come to your hotel and pick you up take you to his bar so you can book trips most hotels wont let him enter due to under cutting the reps for trips hope this helps if you need any idvice on anything feel free to ask x
There are 5 of us in our party 3 travelling from Hartlepool flying from either Newcastle or Manchester depending on cost, and 2 from the Isle of Wight flying from Gatwick we are celebrating my twin sisters 50th birthdays!
Three of us have been to Sharm before so know pretty much what to expect, never booked diy before and i am just a bit wary of companies going bust or something going wrong but need to get a really comptetive price as for some of us this is a second holiday so the budget is tight.
One hotel has stood out it being the Tirana Sunrise Aqua Park Hotel available through Holidaygems, wondered has anyone used them or this hotel?
Thanks again for your willingness to help and anymore info would be fab can imagine the logistics of this trip are not easy !
You really need to be in Naqa Bay or Sharks Bay id say There is quite a few new 4 and 5 star all inc hotels recently bulit over in Sharm but if its for your sisters 50th i would cetainly say you need to be near night life which is Narma Bay on a sunday night the Hard Rock Cafe does a deal were you pay £20 english pounds and you can get unlimited drink from 11pm till 3am so its not bad plus there is lots off night life too. Also if you see the rep in your hotel she will give you discount vouchers to get cheap deals in night clubs etc
One tip dont use the taxi cabs at side off the road your hotel will provide a good taxi service into Narma Bay and back for a good price and a safe journey as you said some off your group have been before so they will know what i mean also you should get a shuttle bus from your hotel theses run up till 11pm each day you just prebook the day before some are free some you pay £2 return.
It all depends on what you want lively or relaxed holiday,
At the moment its cheaper booking flights from Leeds Bradford airport which is only 1hr 40 mins away from your town ive just booked my daughter up and her mates saved £100 each rather than Newcastle good day time flights as well.
And for doing a DIY just make sure you book with Abta and Atol that way if they do go bust you are covered especailly if you pay via credit card.
Just do your research before you book like we did we been going for 4 years now but before i first ever booked a lot off people on here gave me advice etc what to do etc etc so im sure you will get more advice as time goes on but mainly if you going to do a DIY you need to get flights booked asap as prices go up each week but hotels you can get anytime.
If you are taking Kiddies with you i would highly recommend the Holiday Village but you can only book this with First Choice and swim up rooms are fantastic but only one let down your child as to be at least 12yrs old to book a swim up room.
Have a fantastic time were ever you book
P.S forgot to say we are also from Hartlepool
Only 2 "kiddies" going on our trip one 15 one 16 but sure they will enjoy themselves.
Thanks again and i'll let you know when i've booked up.
First Choice has just released prices today
thanks
I am going back November 85 in the day and 22 at night. I have paid £50 more than last year with thomson. Last year i went with TC. I paid £1750 all inclusive, upgraded to exit seats extra legroom, in-flight meals and transfers. I paid £1700 last year.
