I have been twice with youngish teens. Not sure about your particular hotel but a week was enough for both of mine. Really enjoyed chilling out round the pool, swimming and reading etc but there just wasn't enough for them to do. We did not want to do Cairo and Luxor from Sharm as we intend to have a holiday there at some point. We went into NB every other night to eat, but the hassle got on their nerves after a while and they started to say lets just eat at the hotel.

My daughter has now learnt to dive so it might be better for her now, I guess.

Hotels like the holiday village get loads of british kids but it seems to be aimed at 12 & under.

I know both Lyns (westie and lallygirl) have been with teens perhaps they will be along to advise. Their teens seem to have enjoyed it.

We have taken our teens twice to hilton sharks bay during the easter school holidays. they loved it there as there were plenty of english teenagers when we were there . whilst there wasnt a great deal for them to do of any evening in the hotel they were happy to have a drink , sit and chat and hang out with the shisha pipes(sorry spelling  .The older teens normally went into naama bay with members of the animation team after midnight . They were well looked after and normally went to the hard rock cafe where there seems to be plenty going on . If yours are old enough to do that on their own its very cheap and easy to get there.
I dont know anything about the louis tiran other than its looks very nice im afraid but you shouldnt have a problem over the school summer holidays . not been at that time of year although I do know it will be VERY HOT but most seem to cope fine and it is a dry heat.

I would take care to choose your hotel carefully . maybe choose one that has a nightclub if they like a dance although there is no guarantee there wont be only 3 people in it :rofl as they found this year in nuweiba. We have booked the sonesta beach club for next easter and whilst the reviews are a little mixed Im hoping it will give my teens what they need . its within walking distance of naama bay and there is also a nightclub. trouble with mine is it takes them a week to loosen up enough to talk to others and by that time its too late. :duh

Thanks for your replies, I'm not too worried about entertainment and places for them to go, they are happy if they can meet up with some friends to spend time with around the pool and chill out chatting in the evening in the hotel itself. We don't mind who is at the hotel but I understand that the kids find it easier to make friends (not always easy at the best of times) if there are plenty of other english speaking teenagers around. I just can't make up my mind what to do.........and you can bet as soon as I go to book the prices will have shot up :really Thanks again and if you've any more thoughts please let me know :cheers

Dont know of the hotel you are mentioning, but if it is in a lot of the English Brochures like Thomson, Longwoods, Airtours etc that might be a good sign as it will mean more English speaking guests.

Quite a lot of Russians go to Sharm and they normally go AI, its quite difficult to mix with them due to the language barrier.

THe Hilton Sharks Bay seems to be popular with Brits as does the Coral Sea Resort as it's more or less exclusive to First Choice.

Don't know if that helps any, also dont want to put you off if you have set your heart on a particular hotel.

It's very difficult getting it just right when you have teens.

It depends where you want to go in Egypt as to where you would want your teenagers going on their own! I have found it pretty scary in places, being an adult, let alone a teenager! I wouldnt have let my girls out on their own in Luxor or Sharm to be honest. However, discovered El Gouna and no problem there, hassle free resort and somewhere where they get no hassle at all.

My teenage lad has been to Egypt 3 times now..and although he was not too keen on all the hassle he got whilst with me ( you know the usual..come into my shop etc) from some very aggressive men..he enjoyed going into Naama Bay at night. We stayed at Sonesta and there was a nightclub of sorts on the premises which he and the other teenagers went to ( and a couple of people still trying to pretend they are young) and he, Rach and Sue also ventured to a few of the bars etc in Naama Bay at night and he thought it was great. They seemed perfectly safe as a group and enjoyed it...that said, I don't think he would have wanted to go on his own.

Taba was so quiet everything was pretty much hotel based anyway and Hurghada he was happy to wander around on his own.

When I took ,y son he was only 11 and he throughly enjoyed our 2 weeks. We went to ALL the sites from Cairo to Abu Simbel and that was in July when the heat went up to 130 and he nerver complained once. There weren't many kids at our hotel but he made friends with one of the owners children and played in the pool and in the hotel with him.

July/August is the hottest time of the year, we went in June and LUXOR hit 55 degrees. I am a sun babe, (except i dont look like one :rofl ) I never normally need to go under a brolley, but i did for two weeks when we went. I couldn't believe i went for the sun, and spent two weeks hiding from it. Tummy bugs hit big time in the summer months for a lot of people, it doesn't matter what you take in precaution before you travel, you dont escape, as me and justval can vouch for :duh My daughter i think got a bit bored when we went for 2 weeks, she isn't the type of person to wander off either, and girls do get hassle from admiring men, my daughter couldn't cope being pretty and well proportioned should we say :rofl

We are going for first time in a couple of weeks, and I was warned that I would need to keep an eye on my daughter as she will get harrassed by the waiters etc? Is this true ? She is 15

My daughter this year was 19, she wasn't bothered by the waiters in the hotel complex, but when we sat on the cushions in Naama bay it was very intimidating and frightened her. It was only one lad, but even so he kept touching her bum and putting his arm around her. Having been there numerous times before, i certainly told him where to go. Other than that incident, no problems.
