Not sure if this is the right forum.
On our recent group trip to Chicago. We were checked in at Birmingham by 1 man on a desk. He got all 19 of us through in about 30 minutes, no fuss, no bother.
Coming back through Chicago they had a different system with electronic scanning of passports etc. It took 3 desks and 6 personel to do this and it still took 30 minutes. After we had got the last one through the lady in charge said 'wasn't that so much easier'? When I said that it wasn't she was shocked.
they call it Progress!!
Similar thing happened to me at Manchester T1 passports last month. The automatic scanners checking chipped passports were taking at least twice as long as the staff checking old passports.
