We have just returned from a really relaxing break spent in Elounda and will most certainly be returning next year. Crete is by far the best greek island I have ever visited. The local people are extremely friendly, the food is gorgeous, mostly fish as it is a fishing harbour. We are already booking our next visit for 2009!!

Elounda has thankfully not turned into a horrible tourist trap. Yes it does have tourist shops, which is to be expected, but it is not completely over run. The scenery is totally stunning all over the island.

Elounda is what I call the old Greece, where they may cater for us tourists but still hold alot of the culture. If you love to spend your time at a resort where the Cretans are so friendly, has beautiful scenery and has not yet been totally spoilt by nightclubs and has limited local bars (though have to say we did spend a couple of nights at one bar as we made friends with the owner until 1.00 am in the morning!!) without load music booming all night this is your place. Not to mention the beautiful weather as in Elounda they have a constant breeze which keeps the temperature down and makes it bearable to sunbathe.

We will certainly be back.
