Just wondering if anyone has a set regime outside of their normal skincare/haircare?
I have very frizzy thick hair which goes down to my bum, and if I braid it and let it out during the flight, I come off the plane looking like a cave woman. My option is to braid it and keep it in during the flight (smothered in conditioner) or wear it down and hope it stays in place.
Skin care, I always take my make up off as soon as I get on the plane and apply a moisturiser or a moisturising masque (ideally a clear one) to avoid that horrible texture; if I'm applying moisturiser then I'll re apply every 2-3 hours or so and make sure I bring lipbalm. I normally bring a minimal make up set (tinted moisturiser, tinted lipbalm and eyeliner) for just before the plane lands plus fresh clothes
Oh and I bring a bottle of alcohol hand sanitiser gel and tissues so I can wipe the table down before I touch anything.
Does anyone else do this? Or does anyone else have any tips? It helps pass the time if nothing else
I have thick fizzy hair too but for the last couple of years I have had a Brazillian blow wave, Just wash and go now!
I was looking at the John Freda 2 day straightening serum but would heat treating your hair before a long flight not dry it up even more?
I'm the opposite and have very fine baby hair so mine tends to just stick to my head in the hot weather
My mum has thinner hair too, she tends to wear a bandana type hair band while in the sun, it also protects her scalp.
For the last couple of years I have bought an Elemis flight amenity bag from EBay for my flight. They are the ones that get handed out to first/business class passengers on BA flights so are quite easy to pick up for a few quid. They've got mini products in them to give yourself a little facial on board. I find it helps to pass the time and stops my skin drying out as much as it would normally do, even if it does mean I get strange looks from some passengers
Ooh that's a good idea
Hair I can't comment on, I have a few Strands, have done for years. I fly a few times a week every week and have done for quite a few years, my main tip for good skin care is to drink plenty of water, at least 1.5litre for 6-8 hours of flight. Certainly, drink the equivalent water to what ever else you drink- be it alcohol or just a soft drink...
On the BBC's Holiday programme that was aired recently the doctor on the show recommended you use a Saline Nasal Spray to help prevent dryness and to protect against catching colds etc. There's some information here:-
i love holiday hair by mark hill works well. me and my daughters hair are both frizzy 2
Nothing as such, but make sure I drink plenty of water, I always buy a bottle of water before I fly.
