Hi folks, first post on here and I hope you can offer some useful advice.
We have just purchased off plan, 2x 4 Bed 3 bath 3 Storey Villas in Kussadasi. These are due for completion May 2007.
What I'd like to know is this. Is it advisable to employ an independant legal advisor to act on our behalf, or is it 'safe' to use an English speaking solicitor recommended by the agent. The agent I must add has come highly reccomended and has many happy customers. Its just the impartiallity aspect that slightly concerns me.
If anyone could recommend a good English/Turkish speaking solicitor I would grateful.
Regards
Colin
It's all a bit of a leap in the dark isn't it! We made the mistake of trying to protect ourselves by using a totally independant English Company, operating in Turkey for our legal stuff. We ended up getting ripped off by them, and dispensing with their services half way through. So we relied on the services of our agents Turkish solicitor from then on, and everything went through quite smoothly. If your agent comes highly recommended and you've spoken to other happy customers, I should think you will be fine. It is normal in Turkey for both sides to use the same solicitor. Good luck!
