Hi Tracy,

Darren, should I request seats from the mid plane area and backwards as I have heard it is quiter and you do not get disturbed by the galley lights.

I've never flown with EOS, but we had them divert in to Manchester the other week for the first time because of a fog bound Gatwick (flight ESS001/2). They have an interersting business plan with all business class 757-200s (48 seats on a 752, they normally have 235 seats on UK charters!). I would think all seats on these aircraft will be fine! Seating is always personal preference. I like just infront or behind the wings by the window so I can see whats going on, but thats just me. I've not been inside one of EOS's aircraft (I'd love to have a nosey though) so I can't say for certain, but if the galleys are up front then it might be better somewhere mid-aft of the aircraft away from them. However, in terms of engine noise, upfront in generally quieter. I'm sure any seat on these luxury Boeing's will be fine, the legroom and facilities will make up for any noise!

This is the EOS 757-200 we had divert in to MAN the other week:

Have a great time, you'll have to tell us what the EOS experience is like when you get back.

Hi Darren,

think that divert was from Stansted as this is the only UK destination for EOS. Hope this doesn't happen to me though as I'm supposed to be going straight into the office after we land - hopefully I might be able to finally get some sleep on board the plane as it has flat bed seats.

WIll try and request mid aircraft seating I think.

Will try to report back on the service - although it won't be up to your airliners.net ones! I did see both the EOS and maxjet planes whilst I was at Stansted last week catching a Germanwings flight to Cologne and was only thinking then I wish I could go on one - and now I am. I am very excited at the prospect of the flight - maybe I'm just dreaming of the complinentary champagne though!

Hi Tracy,

Hope you have great flights and a great time. Give them credit cards a good bashing, the exchange rate at the moment is fantastic (1.965$ to £ :tup )

I'll try but we really don't have much time built into the schedule for shopping. We are only there for 4 nights and in that time we are seeing 6 basketball games (4 in Washington and 2 in New jersey). Our free time in Washington will be spent sight seeing as it's a city neither of us has been to before so i guess the only time we have to shop will be the day we go home - will have 5 hrs or so before we have to head out to the airport.

Will try my best though!

Sitting next to mad American woman drinking loads of bottles of bud - she's half pissed already - hope we not sitting near her!!

it was brilliant.

I can now compare it to BA business class as I flew to Chicago on business in January and EOS wins hands down. The level of service and comfort was second to none - BA couldn't even get close.

Very quick check in - 15 mins from arrival to lounge in both directions and then the champagne never stopped flowing. Nothing was too much for the cabin crew and you were truly made to feel special.

If funds provide would difinitely fly with them again in preferernce to any other airline to NY.

Hmmm Sounds Good Compared To BA Buisness Class, They Are Supposed To Be A World Class Airline Aswell.

Well Atleast I Think They Are

Eos becomes latest credit crunch casualty

Eos Airlines has become the second US business class only carrier to fail in less than six months.

The airline, which flew transatlantic from Stansted, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Saturday.

Operations will cease entirely after today (Sunday), a statement on the Eos website said.

The final flight between Stansted and New York was due to run tonight at 18.30.

The failure follows that of rival MAXjet which shut down before Christmas and is the latest in a line of airline casualties this year.

Luton-based low fare business class carrier Silverjet is the only one remaining offering the specialised premium service from the UK.

Silverjet immediately stepped in to offer Eos passengers seats on its New York-Luton service.

CEO Lawrence Hunt said: "Our commitment lies firstly with ensuring our own passengers enjoy Silverjet's seamless stress free experience but we hope that this offer will provide some peace of mind to EOS passengers.

"The airline industry is hugely competitive and this has been starkly illustrated by today's announcement.

"With our unique proposition and very reasonable prices, passengers can look forward to continuing to fly with Silverjet and enjoying the calm and intimate experience that we offer."

Silverjet saw a 23% growth in passenger numbers last month.

Default and insolvency insurance suppler International Passenger Protection had warned of further airline collapses after the failure of nine in the first 4 months of 2008 compared to five in the whole of last year.

IPP director Paul Mclean said: "Simply, the long standing effect of the credit crunch and the price of oil still continuing to rise means many airlines simply cannot maintain flying operations unless they make drastic price increases.

"Although we predicted several other airlines to come into the same financial difficulties there will sadly be others during this difficult credit crunch and high oil price period. "
