hi can anyone tell me if the miami apartments [estartit]
are still operating and are there any coach operators
using it [ex redcrest user] hello 2 anne jim &jordan[preston]
thanks
I cant think of any of the major coach companies that go to these apartments now.....and if that's the case, it will be a blow for that area, as the Miami was one of the few busy ones left in that part of town
not sure of any other coach companys right now , do ferris and seista do seat only you could get a seat to there nearest resort and then transport to estartit on your own, just an idea,
another one is, it is possible to actually get a train from london to very near the spainish border, not sure about any nearer tho so you would probably need to get a bus from there.
I would imagine by train you would need to go London to Paris, then i think the TGV goes something like Paris to Marseille in 4 hours. I think you still have to sometimes change at the Spanish border (different gauge of rail track in Spain from the rest of us - a Franco thing!) although i think they have some fancy trains now that can 'adapt' to the change!
TGV Website The changeover point is at Port Bou on the spanish border, so i guess you might have to get another train to that one.
PS if you have a look at that TGV site, click on Maps, and then look at the rail network in France compared to our.......oh, the shame!!
In fact, you can book a service from London to Perpignan (blooming expensive though!!) Go here to the the PS if you have a look at that TGV site, click on Maps, and then look at the rail network in France compared to our.......oh, the shame!!
i often wonder if that passport is still hidden in the apartment, i even have a spare key for the apartment somewhere.
Train would be nice, but i think it would be very expensive, plus having to change at the border is a pain......Franco has a lot to answer for!!
I suppose the Miami could do pretty well with the amount of people who book independently these days, but i would have imagined that having a holiday company taking up x amount of apartments guaranteed, would be a much better situation.
i just have to say tho for those of you that might be thinking of booking apartments in estartit the Mar dor that we stayed at this year (see review) are fantastic, really top class even thou ours was supposed to be astandard apartment it had a massive sun terrace up stairs and the owners had even included a fan in the bedroom. i have some photo that i can show if anyone want to see them
I wouldnt mind seeing those....i have always heard that the Mar d'or apartments are the creme de la creme in Estartit
hope this helps
