I am thinking of only buying a token ammount of Euro's here in UK prior to our two week hol back in Faliraki at the end of May.
As the best rate today, locally to where I live, is only 1.206 euro's to the £ does anyone know roughly what rate I might expect in a Faliraki Bank/Hotel if we were there at the moment...? I will be taking (fresh and crisp) Sterling notes as opposed to TC'S so any commish should be minimal. When we went to Bulgaria (2005 and 06) we also took Sterling and got a far better rate for their Lev in the banks and hotels at the Golden Sands resort than we were offered over here at that time. so I'm hopeful we may get a better deal for the Euro actually in Rhodes rather than here in UK.
...many thanks in advance for all imput.
I'm off to Zakinthos in a couple of weeks.. i will get about £150 changed up ready and get the rest in resort as i always do
I'd try re-posting or bumping this question nearer the time. You do normally get a slightly better rate in Rhodes than you do here but the main tourist season doesn't start until 7th May. So if you wait till say the 14th or so when people are returning from their holidays, you might be able to get a more specific reply regarding the rate.
Came back from a 2 week stay in Lindos last night and the best rate was 1.23 which was then subject to a commission which brought it nearer to 1.21
I've took a chance and bought all my euros yesterday and got 1.22 not sure
Rick.. i have never yet failed to get better rates in resort for CASH exchange than in the UK
