HI All
For the past few years i have been to the caribbean AI, mainly the Riu resorts in Dom Rep (North and East) and Mexico but also the Grand Palladium Mexico.
This year we really need to keep my daughter in school so are looking at the summer holidays 2010. Obviously i don't really want to go out to the caribbean during full on hurricane season so i have been tentatively looking at Europe. I am finding it really difficult to find anything like the facilities we are used to without a humungous price tag - i understand the the prices are hiked during the summer months but some of them are double what i just paid to go to Mexico 5*.....does anyone who has done both have any suggestions or comparisons to share? Hotel ideas that can meet our expectations slightly??
It seems that everywhere i look in europe puts big restrictions on the AI package and although i have travelled Ai in Europe we have been totally spoilt over the last few years....any ideas????
I have looked at Riu properties in Europe but i'm finding them ridiculously expensive. Is this the price we have to pay to stay close to home??

There are some excellent 4/5* A/I's along the Antayla coast of Turkey . As long as you dont mind being somewhat isolated these are probably some of the best in Europe as far as value for money, facilities , drinks , choice of food and restaurants etc . look for resorts such as belek, lara beach , side or anything that would fly you into Antayla airport .
Other areas of Turkey are equally as good but if you are looking for something to rival whats on offer in the caribbean then this could be a good option .
Saying all of that I normally do A/I in Europe and next summer we have booked to go to cuba because it is cheaper .

Hi, I would agree with you totally Lyn, having taken a look at AI in Europe it does appear as though the Antalya coast of Turkey does give the best value at the moment and some of the hotels look lovely, like you Lyn we have also changed destination away from the Euro zone, the Caribbean this year and the Maldives next year for our main holidays.
Claire you could also take a look at Egypt as there are some good deals there also.

Agree with Graham . Egypt(Red sea) is another favourite of ours and is big on A/I, Value for money , good facilities , choice of A la Carte restuarants etc but you would have to choose carefully and research the large selection thoroughly in the high heat of summer when stomach upsets can be a problem .
