I thought something was up when I was checking prices last week - luckily we had already booked with MyTravel because we wanted a day time flight ...even though it was a bit extra £.

they cancelled mine too from birmingham to dalaman and didnt tell me until i tried to add on 2 more people grrr, they did me a favour though as got my deposits back and booked different flights and save around £250

We booked excel 5 weeks ago to go to dalaman from gatwick next july i hope they let us know if they are cancelling that as well,how will i be able to find out

i booked mine in sept for july 07 , if youre worried ring them and ask, say a lot of their flights have been cancelled and you are checking yours is ok, im sure july from gatwick will be fine, mine was for 19 nights so not sure if that was why

Will give them a ring later,we booked the flights a while back and have since seen them cheaper by about £200 anyway,which i felt quite gutted about from a different airline,still whats done id done,at least it wasnt at the last minute you found out

hi, ours were with drawn too next july with cosmos from birmingham.Now going to go from gatwick unfortunately.Dont know why they do this,anyone ????
Doesnt encourage you to book holiday early, does it!!!!

We phones up to check our flights are still okay,the only change being we fly out half an hour earlier than when booked,didnt let us know,keep fingers crossed thats the only change between now and july

We are travelling Brmingham to Dalaman next July and xl.com advise no problems. Do I trust them? Well everything went very well on our last three trips to Turkey so at the moment I will have to believe them.

As the original poster on this thread, I can confirm that your flights to Dalaman will not be affected by this.

Excel made a commercial decision to remove all flights from the UK to Antalya for Summer 2007. This does not affect any other Turkish Airport!

It turns out that they did me a favour, we had booked with them from Manchester for £151.25 pp, but after 48 hours panicking, we managed to find flights with First Choice on the same dates at almost identical times for just £97.50pp. The best price I have ever obtained for Turkey flights.

Thanks for the info.
For reference our flights costs are around £180.00 each.
Last year the purser on the flight told us that as Air Malta, who operate this flight at this time and have done for the past three years, will be offering more leg room and a complimentary bar for 2007 flights as they offer no in-flight entertainment. Looking forward to the extra 12mm leg room and a free coke in July! We do actually like this flight as the longest delay we have suffered in all our flights has been 15 minutes (discraceful I know) and the arrival time in Dalaman means we almost have the airport to ourselves! On the Dalaman front I probably dont have to tell you but others may be interested to know that you can buy Duty Free goods when you land there and it's cheaper than on the plane.

Well it's happened.
After checking with Exel that my Birmingham to Dalaman flight in July was OK as few weeks ago I have now been told that for 'commercial reasons' I am now flying from Manchester!
Very dissapointed.

i did say on 30th oct my flights from brum to dalaman in july had been cancelled, what date were you departing think mine was around 16th july, its so annoying when they do this, lets hope you get a better priced flight like i did although fc flights have gone up nearly a £100 each since i booked ours, good luck

Just had a letter from our tour company Panorama part of Going Places etc that we are now departing from Birmingham at 0700 on 11th June 2007, our origiinal flight was from East Midlands same date at 0800, went to see the travel agent but nothing leaving East Mids that day, our only choice is Birmingham or Manchester, they don't seem to care the extra costs this puts on your holiday. Anyone else been cancelled, watch this place I'll bet Manchester will be the place we end up at. Does one have any rights to claim the extra expenditure back from the tour compamy?

This happened to us last year

Ask the travel agents fot free car parking and in flight meals for the inconvience.

Other thing is there have to offer you a refund they dont tell you this but ask.

Look into doing it your self or look on teletext there is lots off good offers out there.

There is lots of people on here who can give you advice on DIY holidays

I would never book via travel agents again unless it was very very cheap

We have saved over £1000 this year with us doing a DIY
