I'm paid in euros so it doesn't affect me but I've known people who will drive 10 miles to get a slightly better rate.....the cost of petrol negates the benefit.
Just change before you go and then relax and forget about it....and while you're there think euros. You see people looking in shop windows with calculators in hand....that's no way to enjoy a holiday!
Have fun.
I have always found we get a better rate in resort than the uk... so i only ever take enough evro for the first day
We returned from Chania a week ago and used our Nationwide Flex card to get cash from the ATM for all but €100 of our spending money. We have had an exchange rate between 1.254 and 1.262 euro to the pound. Excellent I think and no bank charges.
Enjoy your hols, Yiamass, Jean
1.25 is exceptional at this time. I travel in euroland regularly and haven't seen that rate for several months. You did well, especially with no additional charges....wow!
I got 1.23 in August using Nationwide cash card no fees.
I also have a Nationwide flex account and can recommend this account for using your card in ATM's abroad. So easy and you get a good rate.
