Have a look at this page for various ideas for excursions
http://www.puertopollensa.com/excursions.html Some are Puerto Pollensa based but most cover the island & the north in particular.

Hi
Can anyone tell me is there any local companies that do day trips or do you have to go with your travel company. Are there any places you can go by public transport.

loads just pop into one of the local travel agents. most will pick up your hotel and are lots cheaper than tour ops. or perhaps you may consider a days tour with a bloke who lnows a bit about mallorca, look here

Depending on where you are based you can get to many places by public transport including boat, bus & train. You can also go by taxi if there are enough of you. Rates to the main attractions are posted at the taxi ranks. See the Directory on this site for links to public transport

An excellent travel agent in Santa Ponsa is right by the roundabout from which the taxis and buses leave. You can book air or sea tickets, trips round the island and trips to the mainland. You can't miss it!
Several car-hire companies are in the road opposite the tourist centre on the main beach, although I always book from the airport as it's not a great deal more expensive than taxis. I'm told Roaslind in Santa Ponsa have a good reputation.

We generally use rosalind excellent service and good rates too.
Thanks for info
I really must pay more attention when I am wondering about. It must be the heat or the drink or just my brain switching of and going into holiday mode.

Having posted here last year and received excellent replies, then having read all the reviews both myself and the wife have booked an apartment in Cala d or for this September/October and cannot wait, 10 weeks to go.
The other day we saw a holiday programme on Sky that showed a balloon trip in Majorca. It did not say where the trip was from. Can anyone help or point me to a web site.[/b]

When we where in Majorca 3 weeks ago, our hotel had leaflets on the balloon trips, but maybe you wish to book before you go. We saw the trips on sky travel today and they did look good fun. We passed a balloon place on the transfer from the airport to the east coast.
Thank you for the information and the web site. Definatly something to do. Cannot wait to get there now.
Hi Peter D
Where abouts are you staying in Cala dor? I have just booked for next year staying at the Cala dor playa apartments. Would be grateful for any information of the resort. Have only been to the north of the island. Hope you have a fab time.
