Has anyone been to the Falesia hotel in Acoteias in the Algarve?
I am due to fly there at the end of August. I know there is a review for the Rui Falesia but as i understand it they are two different hotels. What do people think of the hotel? It is also our first time in the Algarve.
I am due to go with my gran, we like a total laid back holiday with a few trips to chill out. What trips do Thomsons offer and are they any good?
Any information greatly recived.

The thompson staff are first rate! the hotel is rather plush and there is a good range of food in the resturant.
The hotel staff are all friendly and cannot do enough for you. When I arrived the battery that operated the safe had run out and they came to replace it within 20 minutes.
There is entertainment in the bar every night from a very good duo that cover a wide range of songs, as well as the thompson reps show every week.
There is an indoor and outdoor pool with more than enough sun loungers to go around!
Thompson offer a wide range of trips while you stay, I will quickly review the ones we went on.
1. Best of the Algarve- exhausting but worth it! this a full day on the coach but you get to visit all the main attractions in the Algarve including the furthest SW point in europe, called the end of the world, and you also visit the highest point in the Algarve. There is a visit to a moorish castle, but be warned the walk up to it is very steep! and visits to two other towns to look around ( forgive me for not supplying the names as I have lost the flyer!)
2. Gypsy market- this one is ok if only to look around the town where the market is held. The market itself is full of junk to be quite honest, frequented by some very dodgy individuals! (watch your purse). The town is very nice.
3. Wine trip- here you are taken to a winery where you get to sample the different types of port and wines made in the algarve. The buffet they supply is very nice, along with the drinks you try. You can buy a bottle of port that was bottled in the year you where born but they ARE expensive ie 170e. Afterwards you get taken to a harbour town where you can have a look around.
4. Casino- this is an evening trip (they pick you up at 2100) and you are taken to the biggest casino in Portugal. You get a 3 course meal (good) and get to watch the stage show (excellent). Afterwards you get about an hour and a half in the casino(picked up about 0100). Very enjoyable but be warned that the stage show features topless girls in two songs!
I can also recommend that you take a trip into Vilamora, your gran will love it! The harbour has multi-million pound boats all lined up and you can enjoy a meal or a drink while overlooking the wonderful view; we went twice! A taxi from the hotel will cost 18e but you can get one back for 10e. There are buses but it entails a half mile walk to and from the bus stop.
Also Albafura is worth going too but I would recommend the old town only, it is delightful!! the new town is all british bars and touts trying to sell you a time-share.
There are other trips available too!
There is a hotel bus that runs to the local beach 4 times a day free of charge, and there are daily activities put on by the reps.
All in all you can be as active or sedantry as you want, this is a first rate holiday destination for couples or anyone who enjoys their holiday a little quieter.Gran will LOVE it.
Wizard the link you supplied was to the RUI Falesia in Olhos d agua which is a different hotel to Falesia hotel in Acoteias.
sorry that will teach me to rush i have requested it be added
Thanks Wizard, hopefully a few more people will enter a review.
