Family of 4 Maspalomas

We are thinking of going to Gran Canaria for a week to chill out, this year around either 26th May or 11th August.

We have 2 girls (aged 10 and

and was looking at the Maspalomas area and need some advice.

1. Can anyone recommend good quality accomodation for 4? Alot of the hotels it is not clear whether the rooms actually sleep 4, and how comfortable the sofabeds are? We would like to be quite close to the beach and have some nice swimming pools.

2. Is All inclusive worth it as we like the idea of not having to look for restaurants? What would you pay for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner for a family of 4.

3. If we do stay in Maspalomas we would look to do a couple of excursions. What is recommended? Water Park, Sioux City, Catamaran Ride, others?

4. Anyone found any good deals or recommend a travel agent for Gran Canaria.

Hope you can help if you are a family of 4 and have been to Maspalomas.

We're also a family of four and I highly recommend the Gran Hotel Costa Meloneras. We've been to the canaries 11 times now and always pick 4* or 4*+ hotels and we all agree this is the best one we've been to. Four pools, jacuzzis, gardens that rival the caribbean resorts, lovely restaurants and food. They do junior suites for 2 Adults & 2 Children which are very spacious with large bathroom with separate shower and bath and lots of wardrobe space.

If you have Google Earth loaded you can easily spot the hotel adjacent to the lighthouse at Maspalomas. You can't miss it, I think it's the largest hotel in Spain, but the grounds are so spacious it never feels crowded even when it was full when we went last Easter.

We booked through Alpharooms and go direct to airline sites for flights. Taxi from the airport is about 30 to 35 euros each way.
