Stalis and Rethymnon are both nice resorts, prefer Stalis it's a lot quicker to get to from airport and it's good lively evenings without being over the top both places have reallly nice sandy beaches and are family friendly.

Having done Crete with a 7yr old and a 12 yr old I would plump for Stalis,
not to far from Airport, busyish nightlife without being to busy, nice beach, central location, close to 2 waterparks - not to busy trafficwise and some really nice restaurants that do kids food if needed without being too touristy.

I agree Stalis is brill, already booked up for next July.

But before you get to Stalis you have to go thru Hersonissos. They have Starbeach there which the kids will love. The nightlife will suit both the adults and the kids.

just returned this morning after having 2 great weeks in stalis( 2 adults, and a 16 year old girl, brilliant resort, quite lively, good atmosphere, fantastic beach, excellent restuarants and friendly people..recommend it to anybody !!!

Agia Marina, near chania is good for kids and families of all ages!
