What do these normally constitute? .Do they have a separate bedroom. When you look at each individual hotel it doesn't seem to give a very good description
Thanks
I dont think you can generalise on this one and it will be down to the individual hotel and the class of hotel. We had a family room in Lykia World which was a large double bed on one level and then a step down to a double sofa bed on another level which to be honest wasn't that ideal for a family of 4 with two teens. But I had paid a rock bottom price so wasn't going to complain. We were only in it for about an hour and a half before dinner and to sleep. It would have been fine for kids under 12. Even there I think there were other types of family rooms if you paid more.
I would imagine over at Lara Beach and Side were you pay a lot of money for the hotels, you would get some kind of seperate annexe for the kids. I do agree with you brochures are dire when it comes to detailing this information often your only hope is someone who has actually stayed somewhere in one.
I dont know what age your children are but often its cheaper to get two twins.

The two I have experience of are
the Asena Beach hotel in Olu . Which was a large double sofa bed type in the main room and a seperate room with a double bed for us .
The sun city also in Olu Deniz had various types of family room there depending on what T/O you booked with . We had a standard size hotel room with a double bed , a bunk bed and an under the window sofa bed thingy for a 5th person. fine if your children are young but would be a nightmare for a family with teens . They also had family rooms which were in fact 2 internconnecting rooms with 1 bathroom.
You may gain a better insight by looking at the hotels own websites.

I will certainly have a look at Asena Hotel.
We are travelling with our son who is 15yrs and it is more the case that he wants his own privacy than us but he feels a bit unsure about staying in a room of his own.
I have seen a hotel in Marmaris called the Mares Hotel Dolphin Park and they have 2 bedroomed family villa/bungalow which sounds OK.The average price for 1 week for the 3 of us is working out about £520 going on 25 May[I could probably get some cashback as well]
I wil do a bit more research about it first.
I can't believe how long this is taking me to book accommodation.
Mind you if there is anything wrong with it on my head be it I get blamed if there is a cloud in the sky
hi the green nature has family rooms theses are two separate bedrooms x
You have a downstairs section for the children, with full bathroom, two beds, fridge and TV. Then up some stairs to the parent's loft area, with superking bed and shower room/basin/toilet.
Excellent arrangement, probably the best family room in a hotel that we've ever had.
when we stayed in lykia world we had 2 bedrooms and the mentioned steps down to a bed settee by chris, so we stayed in the big room with the settee and the kids slept next door, it wasnt a connecting room as we only had 1 front door and 1 bathroom, but at least we had our privacy, the room was suitable for 5 people but only 4 of us stayed in it
You then went through that room to get to the bathroom, and while that was a bit of a pain it was nice to have the separate room, to have that privacy and for it to be separate as the suite didn't have that and I shared the main room with my son.
The room was really spacious, and plenty of room for even "fold up" beds if needed. I know they also have some rooms which sleep six, but unsure of their layout. But definitely worth checking out.

hotel oykun in calis beach have 8 family rooms [ they are interconnecting with own balconys ] they also have 8 rooms [ twin / or double] that have a separate bedroom ideal for a couple plus another our familys have used them over the past 7 yrs
Not stayed there but I think the hotel Hemera in Side has got family style rooms/apartments. So you can get the benefit of a seperate bedroom or sofa bed in the lounge bit for your 15 year old and you could have the bedroom. That might be another one you could investigate. It has it's own long thread on here, although it probably doesn't mention much about the rooms.
I have decided to book Mares Hotel Dolphin Park Marmaris. We will be staying in a 2 bedroomed bungalow confirmed by the Hotel.
Not long to go now.
I will certainly post a review when I get back.
Just got to book transfers now and having researched the forum I think that I will be choosing raintransfer.com £80 return
Just a "heads up", I've booked a room with Thomas Cook for next Easter at Limak Lara (Lara Beach). We have a duplex room shown on UTube. My kids will be 12 and 15. Good price too!
From what we can tell on the website, there is now a family room and a family suite at the Arum, and last year the manager mentioned something about most rooms having only showers instead of baths.
Our room was more than big enough for two adults, and two girls (14 and 8). I don't know what the appartments were like, but heard that they did lack cooking facilities.
