Hehe Nikki.

I always end up in Olu/Hisaronu. I've not been brave enough to try any other parts yet (and am really avoiding Marmaris on purpose).

hayman i do love olu deniz area especially the lagoon, but it is more geared up for the brits and not traditionally turkish . akayka is a turkish resort in a conservation area, so everything is built in a austrian style, no high rise ugly hotels, no usual package deals except anatolian sky so it keeps the riff raff out. very scenic and prices in restaurants very reasonable due to being mainly for turks. the sandy beach is gorgeous with calm warm sea . my friends that came with us had only been to sun city in olu deniz and loved that but they preferred akyaka, they had 3 kids with them too, give it a try you wont be disappointed. we met a young couple on the beach 1 day in icmeler got chatting and they came over to akyaka to see us for the day and fell in love with the place. have a look at my photos in the gallery

Hi ellie-meg

Please could you recommend some apartments/hotels in Akyaka

I found these on Anatolian Sky website

Yucelen Hotel and Apartments, Akyaka All Inclusive

Ottoman Konak, Akyaka Bed & Breakfast

Ottoman Residence, Akyaka Bed & Breakfast

Always stayed in Icmeler or Marmaris, so somewhere new would be nice

Thanks

John

yucelen is right on the beach and looks fab but i havent been in there but heard good reports, the ottoman is near the riverside but again not been there. my friends stayed in the azmak villa which was luxury and absolutely lovely its about 8 mins walk to the beach and 5 to the riverside, have a look at the link

other hotels that are nice but 10 mins from the beach are gokova and idyma hotels

we use the idyma pool as its so quiet and so picturesque, we prefer idyma to gokova. yuclen is in the best location. our friends manage the magician hotel on the sea front thats lovely too

john youre welcome let me know if you decide to book for akyaka.

i do have to say if you love marmaris you might not like akyaka as its totally the opposite. theres no karaoke bars, no discos, no loud music, no bazaars, only a few shops, great restaurants, lovely beach, very turkish and not spoilt, very scenic and fairly laid back compared to busy hectic marmaris. we prefer a scenic laid back holiday so really depends what you are looking for in a holiday, if you want lots of shops, entertainment & busy nightlife etc then this wont be the resort for you.

after 4 days in marmaris we were glad to be back in akyaka, it was too much for us :rofl

This looks good. I could not resist reading either. We are off to Icmeler next year. Is Akyaka an are that can be visited from Icmeler? If so we could do a day trip to check it out. Sounds devine. Better not talk too much or will become corrupted (sp)?? ;)

Sorry for butting in but could bnot resist

jazzyd thomas cook have 2 hotels in their brochure for akyaka under gokova, but if i were you i would book diy will be much cheaper

ruth we met some people on a day trip to icmeler and they came over to see us in akyaka for the day on the dolmus its 4 lira 1 way, but the dolmus did drop them off on the main road just at the top of akyaka so it was a good 20 mins walk downhill all the way to the beach. a taxi 1 way will cost you about 40 lira into marmaris not sure how much extra into icmeler, there are 2 dolmuses a day, leaving akyaka for marmaris at 10 am and 6pm not sure what time they leave from marmaris into akyaka. it takes about 30 mins on the bus to marmaris from akyaka ,its about 20 miles, and icmeler is about 4-6 miles further, hope this helps, any other questions please let me know ,have a look at the photo gallery i listed a load of pics last year

my friends stayed at the okaliptus and were very impressed, they got all their washing done as the luxury apt had washing machine ,dishwasher etc, there was also 2 pools as the owner has a few apts and villas together in a little complex, ive put the link to these apts already so have a look. also have a look at the website http://www.akyaka.com
