although i have'nt yet been on my holiday i feel the need to complain already. i recieved a letter yesterday from first choice regarding my holiday to sahara beach in skanes on october the 15th. the letter said that the kids club would not be running after 3rd september but a hotel run one would be. they did say that if we wished we could change the hotel with no admin costs but if the chosen hotel/holiday were to cost anymore than the original one then we would have to meet these costs ourselves. what has annoyed me the most is that we booked this holiday 12 months ago so that we had plenty of time to pay for it and to save, yet they have only just informed me 5 WEEKS before i go!!! the letter was dated 23rd august but for whatever reason the forwarded the letter to me via the travel agents shop????? so i dint recieve it until september 6th. i would not have minded moving my holiday to the last week of august and still had use of the kids club but as i didnt get the letter until it was too late it was impossible to do so.
i cannot see why they didnt tell me this until now (now that the kids clubs are over) or why they didnt write until 23rd august as even then we would nt have been able to chnage as it would have been too late.
i think im going on a bit now
basically my point is that when we booked this holiday in october 2005 we booked it because it was a good family hotel with a good childrens club. i have now been told that we wont get this so i feel that we are not getting what we have paid for. ok yes we could change as i said but why should we when we have been looking forward to this for nearlly 12 months.
does anyone know if there is anything i can do? i want to complain but dont want to sound petty.
ps: the reason i dont particularly want my son to go to the hotel run club is that he is only 3 and quite shy. i honestly dont think he would go if (and i dont mean this in a horrible way atall) he couldnt understand the people looking after him. i think he is too young to be able to understand different accents and if anything happened to him or he was upset he wouldnt approach them the same as he would someone that spoke brilliant english
The T/O's have 52 days in which to notify you of a major change......it seems this is why the letter is dated 23rd August. What is the date stamp on the letter?
I've just pretended to book a holiday to Tunisia on your date, specifying a kids club and your hotel came up. I even went as far as to book it and there's no message there at all about the FC club not running. I suppose technically it has kids club albeit the hotels. I totally understand however how you feel as this hotel is still advertising that you get all the benefits of their In2action specialists who promise all day action from 10am to 11pm.
I'd ask them which hotel does have the In2action running and see if it's worth the change.
have just checked and the post date on the letter is 4th september. ihave phoned first choice about finding an alternative hotel that still has the clubs running but was basically told that most do still run but i would be better to go see the travel agent that i booked with and sorting ot out with them.
i dont want to ahve to change my holiday as i have been looking forward to this for nearlly 12 months and just feel very let down by the way that they have decided to tell me.
what would you reccomend i do? should i just leave it and find something else for him to do?

If your little one is shy then he may not want to go into a kids club, on the other hand there might also be children of his own age there regardless of the club who he might befriend.
I think if the club is an important part of your holiday then discuss with your travel agent re a change. You could still go to Tunisia but maybe a different hotel that has the facilities you require.
Haven't FC offered any form of compensation for this major change to you booking? I would have a chat with Ros Fernihough or Pam her PA on 01922 621114 as you may be entitled to compensation.
