Hi There, I put this question on the Majorca site and havent had a reply yet.
Last year whilst on holiday in Menorca we visited Cuitadella and noticed a ferry which went across to Alcudia (Majorca). This year we are going to Alcudia with friends and thought it would be a good idea to do the reverse trip to show them Menorca for a day out.
Does anyone know where the ferry docks in Alcudia and the cost of sailing and how frequent the sailings are. Any help would be appreciated.
How good is your spanish ? Here is the website of the company that operates to and from Alcudia to Cuitadella. Doesnt seem to have an English version but most of it you can work out.
Hi There, My spanish is not very good, i have had a look at the site and can make out some of the details can any one tell me how much it would be for foot passengers or does this list only apply to vehicles or has any one actually done the crossing and can help...thanks
Maybe you could e-mail them?
It left Ciutadella at 8.30 in the morning and returned from alcudia at 5pm so you had about 5 hours ashore.
Thanks im still trying to work out the spanish words on the timetable i dont know many words in this language but i think salida must be departs and llegada must be returning so if im correct it departs alcudia at 08.30 and returns from menorca at 11.30 and 20.00. The reason i asked about foot passengers is that i will be based in alcudia and should not need a car to nip over to menorca. We stayed in Cala n Forcat last year and i wanted to show my friends the area. Ill have to see if i can find a spanish phrase book and learn a few more words, thanks again for your help...
You can try http://www.freetranslation.com for a translation. It can be good for a laugh anyway!
Good Luck
can any one tell me who the operator of the ferry is and any other info ie. sailings per day, times, costs etc.
many thanks

Check out the website http://www.balearics.com
On the home page you should find a thread under the Travel Info section to take you to the ferry operators who run the crossings from island to island. There are some phone and fax numbers available. Apparently they do run daily according to their site.
Good Luck.
Thanks for advice. But had no luck with the site, kept saying "module inactive" when clicking on travel info link??

http://www.trasmediterranea.es/this one is for the ferry that goes beteen palma and mahon, approx 4 and half hours
http://www.capebalear.esthis one is from cala ratjada to cuitadella, its quite fast, in only takes an hour but passangers only no cars, we went on this and have to warn you its very bumpy and all 3 of us were sick!
http://www.iscomar.esthis one goes from alcudia to cuitadella , it took us about 4 hours on this, but much better than the other and it takes cars.
hope this is of some help to you you will find all the times and prices etc on these sites,
going to be a bit nosey now , but are you taking the ferry as you have a car or will you just be passengers, if so you might consider taking a flight as it is much quicker , easier , and in february the sea can be quite rough for the crossing over...just a thought as now the price for flights are fixed , if you want any info on these let me know and i can find out for you, but let me know quick as im coming back to the uk for my xmas hols on monday and might not get to the computer for a while
and i know this isnt your topic but a quick hello to pippy and family, merry xmas and happy new year..hope you'll be back in menorca for a visit again soon
I found E**sy Jet were doing flights to to palma for £18 in feb £13 return with a months stay time.
Taking the ferry would be a bit more interesting.
Flying direct was between £80 and £120 with no long stay or open tickets.
I was going there alone to "find myself" and get a bit of peace in a super apartment i found in mahon overlooking the harbour.
Maybe look for any opportunity to buy a property
But friends and family [mother and brother] want to come as well!!! Ok with me though.
Merry christmas all.
that sounds quite a lot for the flights, we go via palma in the winter to cardiff as there are only london flights in the winter. we get a cheap deal with easy jet or bmi baby then fly from palma to mahon
if you go with iberia the flights are a set price of approx 75 euros for a non resident each was and they have quite a few flights each day, so if you dont know when you are returning it is good cos the price wont change no matter what.
or if not futura have started a service , but only about twice a week, which only costs 45 euros for a single.....so it might still be worth looking at flying, and the boats not really that interesting just sea really
well hope you have a lovely time when you do come its lovely here in the winters. quiet and tranquill ...erfect to find yourself!
http://balearia.net/eng/indexbalearia.htm. Has anyone got any idea on the prices, ie. A family of four (2 adults/2 children) with no car.
Thanks in advance.
Hello, I believe that its possible to get a ferry from Menorca to Majorca ( Ciutadella to Alcudia) The website that I have looked on is all in Spanish (well, at least the booking part is) Thanks in advance.
Hi there, Have you tried going to one of the language translation sites on the net, we did that a couple of years back to translate a ferry time-table and it worked. all the best and good luck..............ped
Has anyone been on the ferry from Cuitadella to Alcudia? I was wondering how often it ran, the cost etc.Thinking about doing a day trip if possible while we there in June.Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,Helen.
HI helen try this link it may be of help
i have done this trip before, i takes about 2.5 - 3 hours each way, if you are on hols for 2 weeks i would suggest going overnight so you get more time as its a bit of a rush to do in one day and the timing of the ferries makes it hard to get a full day in! we hired a boat oursleves this time from Calan Bosch marina and had a blissful day.
Been to menorca 4 times now + love the place, just wanted to know if there boat trips to Majorca cos i've never noticed.
whilst we were in menorca there was a fast ferry from Ciutadella to Majorca and also in majorca there is a boat from cala ratjida to menorca its possibly the same route not sure ,lots of people will reply to you I am sure
