Hi folks, first time posting here so excuse me if any of my questions are stupid
After years of only going to the canaries and Orlando weve decided to give Mallorca a try for a short break in October.. since booking a few questions have occured to me which i hope the seasoned vistors to the island can answer
Firstly, how do you pronounce Illetas so ill be understood at the airport by the taxi driver? im guessing aye-ee-tah but im sure im way out
Ive read that Illetas is quite quiet, which is fine, but is it possible to have a night out without getting a taxi to a busier resort and have a nice meal and then find a bar with a bit of life and music? or is everyone tucked up at 10pm?
The one thing thats really worrying me is the weather, ive got used to going to the canaries and orlando and never thinking about the weather as its pretty solid all year round, however ive read that october (we leave on the 5th) can be a bit wet and cold.. is it wooly jumper and umbrella time or is it the case that its still a lot nicer than the UK at that time?
Thanks for your time folks... im hoping we really like mallorca as the 2 hour flight is very tempting for a lot of little breaks throughout the year.
Have a look at this site http://www.majorca-mallorca.co.uk/illetas.htm it has some really good info about Illetas.
Its ages since I have been there so I cant recommend any bars or restaurants. I would recommend getting a taxi to Portals Nous - very upmarket marina loads of nice bars and restaurants and is only about 5 mins in a taxi.
Illetas is pronounced Eel-yet-as.
Weather should be really nice during the day - mid 70s though you will need a light jacket or cardigan for the evening.
Hope you like Mallorca - there is such a variety of things to do there, you can never be bored.
Have a great time
Carmel
The Sunday we are out there is my wifes 30th birthday.. where would you suggest in the surrounding area for a big night out in early October? Im thinking maybe Magaluf or Palma.
Illetas is a small, quiet resort not far from Palma, certainly the short journey to Puerto Portals is well worth it, for a restaurant try Binnacle on the port and then chill out upstairs at Diablitos and listen to the funky sounds played there.
Palma is a fantastic city for a 30th birthday party. Head for the La Lonja area around the cathederal where there are lots of tapas bars, restaurants and quaint little squares that are buzzing at nightime. Costs about 15 euros in a taxi. The shopping in Palma is also excellent, with some great fashion shops your wife will love.
We're off there next week, we had 2 weeks in June and can't wait to get back.
Finally check out this website for a choice of great restaurants, you can even book online to guarantee your reservation.
