Hi,
Me and my girlfriend are going to Goa for the first time, leaving on Sunday.
Just been checking the weather on a weather site and for the 1st week it says scattered showers and appears to be like that throughout on the hour by hour guide. Is this reliable, and is it anything to worry about? We obviously want to catch the sun a certain amount!
Also, on the money side of things, going to Baga, is it easy enough to change sterling for rupees, and how much would you estimate (sterling) is necessary to eat and drink for 2 weeks, plus possibly trips and a few gifts (missus may be interested in buying jewellery, handbags if they are any good??)
Thanks in advance for any help!
With regard to money - how long's a piece of string? An average of £30 per day will see two people fed and watered - although it can be much less and if you eat "posh" a bit more. You can get good meals for £4-£5 each.
It then depends on trips/ taxis etc. Shop around for trip operators - it's often cheaper to hire a taxi for the day but always, always agree a fare in advance. Not sure what a taxi for the day will cost now but I'd guess around £12-£15.
Changing sterling into rupees is easy. There are a couple of shops that change cash on the road down to the beach from the Ronil Beach Hotel. There are loads of cash exchange places around - avoid getting more than a few pounds (if any at all) at the airport! My wife bought a few fake designer handbags for about £8each. Jewellery is cheap but take a magnifying glass - there's some rubbish around!
Hope you have a great time!
I'm taking around £500 for two weeks that involves scooter rental, drinking and eating like a king!
Bear in mind that you don't need to save the money you'd be spending back at home because when spending it in India it goes SOOO much further!
Have an amazing time.
RE the weather I can't really help I'm afraid.
The weather is strange at the moment but it is warm and often sunny. Money ..well....eating out is cheap or as OH says very good value. Main courses about £I.00 plus rice, naan, etc. Alcohol silly prices compared to GB. Have a great holiday!
The weather has been bad here, we had one really bad storm the other night and it seems to have cleared everything up and the weather is really sunny now, if you are buying jewelery then i can recommend the Guru jeweller in Candolim everything you buy from them will be worth least three times more when you get it valued in the UK. As for money is that not down to the other half Why not come to the meet up at Teama bar in Candolim it is not far from Baga, on the 13th November Let me know via PM it would be great to put a face to the name there are about 20 of us going.
Mike
I always manage to go on holiday then have no spending money!!! I've been with £60 for a week and £100 for 2 before now! and that was only last year!!!!
