Hi everyone
Love the website - very useful!
Never been to Bulgaria before but have booked 2 weeks at the Hotel Korona from 13th June. It is SC and i was wondering whether anyone had any guidance on how much cash to take as spending money? we are only planning a beach holiday really, just me and my girlfriend eating out, few drinks during the day and night and thats about it.
I've read a few bits and pieces about sunny beach in the forum so far but any further opinions would be welcomed
Thanks for your help
Welcome to the board!
Until we start to receive reports of this season's prices from the first returning visitors, it's difficult to advise you - prices in the resorts tend to bear little relationship with 'real' Bulgarian prices.
I'd suggest keeping an eye on the board for reports.
Baldur
As Baldur has said it's very hard to give you an idea of how much money to take as the prices differ depending on where you i.e resort or local village. The best advice I would give is to go with open mind, don't try to compare it to anywhere else you've visited as that will put you off before your holiday has even begun. The Hotel Korona is situated at the south west part of Sunny Beach close to the Nessebar Beach and Bourgas Hotels and really the beach is less than 5 minutes walk from your front door. This end of the resort is very popular with the English tourists which means there is loads of wee bars, shops and restaurants catering for every bodies needs.
If you get the chance take a trip up to the Central part of the resort (you can get there on the mini train from outside your hotel), here you'll find lots of wee stalls and even more restaurants and bars. If you venture up this neck of the woods, I would suggest using the change desk @ The Avenue as they usually have the best exchange rate in the resort. The Avenue Hotel is situated on the Main Road that runs through Sunny Beach just opposite the Police Station and Diamond Hotel. DON'T BE TEMPTED OR FOOLED INTO CHANGING MONEY AT ANY OF THE DESKS THAT HAVE AN UNBELIEVABLE RATE OUTSIDE OR ANYONE IN THE STREET AS THEY WILL OFFER YOU AN AMAZING RATE AND DO YOU OUT OF A WHACK OF MONEY!!!!!
As a first timer I would suggest a trip to Nessebar itself as the town is a UNESCO world heritage site and is well worth a visit on your first visit, you can either take a taxi or catch the bus from the Main Road (would suggest the bus but be careful as possible pick pockets like anywhere else).
If you want to know anything else give us a shout and keep an eye on the board for more tips and advice over the next few weeks as people start to return.
Mondeo
any idea how busy it will be in early June? I wouldnt want it to be a ghost town, but then i wouldnt want it to be too lively either
Fussy so and so arent I
hi hazy it wont be a ghost town in june everthing will be open by then and it should be quite busy but there are still places you can escape to to get a bit of peace and quiet enjoy yourself im sure you will i cant wait to get there myself ( 3 weeks after you )
Can't wait either, first holiday abroad for 4 years! I saw another members post regarding his holiday today and it all sounded great - and still cheap, which is even better especially as we've saved hard for the last 3 years to get here.
