not allowed at Sharm El Shiekh
it is a protected area - a National Park and is Policed by the Tourist Police very strictly
AFAIK it carries the same fine as damaging the Coral €3000.00
I as an Angler will feel sorry for your husband as I like to wet a line on holiday
BUT
the snorkelling and diving more than makes up for it

surely there must be some fishing ,ie organised boat or sea fishing at least x x x
You will find places that offer organised fishing trips. But these trips will be out in deep water.
The only fishing is very far out and quite expensive
i just agree with macdravanner about the fine of fishing in sharm , but there was one point to say you can only do trolling in sharm-i mean big fishing machine to pick only big fishes-due to the national park rules in sharm i am even working for travel agent in sharm & i am doing this trips for my clients, but they are many russians as thetrip is bet expensive,so it fits the mafia people more
Once i'd swum with the wonderful inhabitants of that body of water, all thoughts of trying to catch them on rod and line left my mind completely. I bought an underwater camera and saved my memories that way. This does not mean that I have lost interest in angling, far from it, but I can understand why it is not allowed in some places.
I have fished in Egypt, in The Nile and had great success, so if you are visiting Luxor or taking a Nile cruise, don't be afraid to pack a travelling rod.
and when I'm in the Caravan add on about 50kg more stuff too
