My daughter has booked to go to Cyprus with a local travel agent and her arrangements show the inbound flight as TCX (which I'm certain must be Thomas Cook) but the outbound flight is KM which doesn't show in any list that has the TCX in it ? I think TCX is an airline code where KM only seems to show as an airport code (or something like that) for MALTA ?
Would this make any sense ? She would be flying with Air Malta from UK to Cyprus and a week later coming back with Thomas Cook ? Why would a Maltese flight be going direct from UK to Cyprus anyway ?

KM is the code for Air Malta. Air Malta often flies as a charter/subcontracted flight for tour operators, and this means that they often do segments which do not involve the airline's home country. So it is quite possible that Thomas Cook are using Air Malta to fly from the UK to Cyprus and back again as their airline TCX may not have aircraft or crew available to use on that route.

As you can imagine it wouldn't been an impossible idea that with a slip of a key as the agent typed in or a glitch in the computer program, that she could have been flying to Malta one way and the return journey was from Cyprus !... would have made for a long swim to get the return flight !

Air Malta also have a side line in what seems to be flight arrangers and can subcontract. Most bizarre combination was a colleague who was booked on Air Malta to go Lanzarote and then found the flight was operated by a Latvian company (who gave him a meal he hadn't ordered or paid for!!).

That would have been LAT Charter who KM subbed for a time last year as they had technical problems. Air Malta have a very strong charter business and operate several flights on behalf of tour operators. They used to operate some XL flights too.
