we are booked with US Airways to fly into Philadelphia airport arriving at 14.05 to connect with a flight to Fort Lauderdale again US Airways departing 15.35. the main question is will we have enough time to pick up this connecting flight assuming our inbound flight is on time.
Also we assume that we will have to go through US customs first before we catch the internal domestic flight- will this take up any precious time we have to catch the flight
no you will have plenty of time. When you arrive you will go through a different part of the airport for connecting flights so you wont have to go through the whole process again.
We cleared customs in an hour one time in Las Vegas with a plane full of British passengers, the next time it was only 30 mins as we were much nearer the front of the plane.

Once you get off plane you have to go and get your baggage and then go through customs and immigration.
Once your through immigration and customs you put your bag on a conveyor belt. Your still in the terminal building.
I would see what terminal your flight leaves from before hand so you know where your going rather look when you get there.
I would have a look at map online.
All the terminals are interlinked so you don;t need to go through any more secuirty.
Philadelphia Airport is big.
It has a nice view when plane does land.
Enjoy your trip.
