We have the chance to fly over on 3rd August next year for £116 return each from Birmingham..is this a good price?
I don't think we will get much better and really need to snatch their hands off...
I will worry about where we are going to stay in Gozo after that..
That is an excllent price for peak season and if your definetly wanting to go then i would get it booked asap.
which airline ?
We are arriving on 3rd Aug and will be leaving on 17th Aug..2 whole weeks of scuba diving and visiting the sites..oh I am on the countdown already!!
So you've gone & done it then Val. That price seems excellent for peak weeks
Hi Val, the price is ok but if you had hung on and checked the website regularly then you could possibly of got it even cheaper, so even though one Malta expert said "That is an excllent price for peak season" he is not entirely correct because had you waited then you could of got it even cheaper, we do it all the time even though we are business class passengers with Air Malta.
Rob is toying with the idea of a week in Malta and a week in Gozo as he wants to dive the Blenheim Bomber and the Um el faroud? ( i think that is what is called)
Could any of you tell me where would be the best place to stay in Malta to access the best diving sites? We have stayed at Cirkewwa before and dived all the top end ones in between Malta and Gozo and Comino with the exception of the P29 as they sank that the day we came home.. ( our timing always was lousy) and we thought we would try somewhere different. Can anyone recommend diving schools with accomodation nearby? We won't need owt fancy..just a place with a couple of beds, running water and electricity!! We will also have all our own dive gear with the obvious exception of tanks and weights.
In Gozo we will either be with Calypso in Marselforn or with St Patricks in Xlendi
(unless Mark has better recommendations) and we know plenty of people who can sort us somewhere to stay.
Did I mention I am already so excited...
another place in Gozo to consider is The Grand Hotel in Mgarr - they have a dive centre next door
as for the ticket price - the only way its going to get alot cheaper is if AirMalta reduce their fuel surcharge, which they haven't yet
But we are going to Gozo so I am very happy and it gives me plenty to look forward to in this terrible cold snap we are suddenly having
you didn't exactly mention it directly but I kind of get the slight impression that you may be just a teeny weeny bit excited don't blame you, we are back early November for our 30th visit and we still get very excited, can't help you afraid with the diving stuff but hope you have a really smashing holiday on the magic Isle's.Did I mention I am already so excited...

realholidaymaker - when do you book your flights for Oct or do you do package. It will be our 1st time in either late Sept - Oct.
I have done a few city breaks doing it myself and it is not hard as there is a bit more choice of airline now days you just have to go on there web sites about 3 months before you want to go and see who has the best price although I think you can book before this on Air Malta, once you have a flight then its pick a hotel take a look at the review pages on this site and others and again its what you want to pay for a hotel. If you are a oap then also look into if the hotel is in a hilly area or not as there are some good hills about in Malta.
The Package is the easyest to do as for tranfers and having a rep if needed, and again you can do it online or with a travel agent or you can get a web price and then phone the travel firm ( phone number on the back of there books) and get them to match the price as we do to get the best price.
Hope this is a bit of a help,
Dave.

You'll be lucky Dave, they are closing for good in December.

can't wait...
I ned to be sensible at some point and start organising the accomdation etc..and putting together a dive package.......
We got great flights next august with Air Malta, from Heathrow. £480 for 3 of us, return. That's £160 each, from Heathrow and august, i can not grumble at all.
We generally book Europe ourselves and have been looking at the big picture so we'll probably wait until flights are out and go for it.
Does anyone know why there seems to be less flights from regional airports to Malta these days. I know they are not necessarily all by Air Malta..but last year we flew from Donny ( about 15 miles from our house) with Thomson Fly and there were loads of other options from other airports..but this year looking..our options were either Birmingham or London..??
I have found Thompson fly to be one of the most expensive operators to malta.
Hi Val, in today's Times of Malta, I thought as a diver you should see this.
