We have found that on some occasions its cheaper to buy a late package just to get flights. Most recent example was a 2 week package to Lesvos in June for £187 per person, flight only would have been double this price

When we went to Santorini this year we looked at doing it DIY and the price was ridiculous! We ended up getting a 2 week package for around £500.

Are you set on going DIY?

I would really like to stay at Lauda Hotel but you can only book to stay there by calling them direct.

Is there other hotels just as nice and not expensive in Oia that overlook the sea?

It appears a lot dont even have their own pool!

Oia is bigger than you might imagine and when you walk along the cliff path its difficult to identify the individual hotels as they are so intertwined. Dont expect 'swimming pools' they are all very small. There is however a beautiful pool bar overlooking the sea at the back of Oia, drinks prices are not too bad if you just want an hour or two here. It looked brand new and is very stylish. As for prices I doubt you'll find much for less than £180 a night. We preferred Firostefani, very easy walk to Fira and Imerovigli with the same great views. Sunsets from Imerovigli were just as good as Oia without the crowds. Have a look at http://www.greeka.com they show a good selection of properties.
