Thank you for your email concerning Flyglobespan.
Bookings direct with the airline for European flights are not ATOL
protected. However, if you add a hotel from the same website you then will
be.
In your quote it states that flights booked DIRECT with the airline are not ATOL bonded. I take it this means if you book a Globespan flight through an agent then it is bonded.

Yes, if you book with an agent you will be protected under there ATOL.
If you book direct on flyglobespan.com for flight only you are not protected under the ATOL scheme.
hi just phoned flyglobespan customer services , they said you are covered by atol 0701 , even if you book direct or by 3rd party , the only airline not covered is a czech airline ( does not operate now ) according to the atol website flyglobespan uk customers are covered .. a bit misleading ?????????????
Must admit I was a bit confused. We booked direct when we went to Tenerife at christmas and I thought they were ATOL covered however you booked.
Rgds Jackie
The email is from the Civil Aviation Authority who run the ATOL bonding, and they have advised that flight only booked with flyglobespan direct are NOT covered by ATOL, regardles what flyglobespan say. It is very misleading for Flyglobespan to say that there flights are covered by ATOL when they are not. The mention of the Flyglobespan on ATOL is only for bookings including accomodation.
i hpoe they don't go bust anyway i paid by credit card , if the airline fails i'll get refunded by my credit card , just hope it don,t come to that
just spoke CAA about flyglobespan europe destinations are not covered by ATOL but US and CANADA are , neither is ryan air , easyjet , monarch (schedule ) , and other no frills airlines , asked about flyglobespan solvency , they are in a very healthy circumstances , so this may put your mind at rest a little , the officail from CAA did say th government are trying to levy the budget airlines a £ 1 per passenger but this has not happened as of yet ...
Wouldnt those airlines be covered under IATA???
For details of what is or isn't covered by ABTA and ATOL bonding, please check out the Safe & Sound booklet. You will find a link in the navigation bar at the top of the page.
Must say this is all a surprise to me in respect of GSM....Healthy though indeed - and their next 2 B767's are reporetd to be coming from Dutch operator KLM.
We flew with Flyglobespan to Tenerife for three weeks over christmas and new year and although it was not the most comfortable flight I have been on the cabin crew where very friendly, polite and helpful. When I look back at some of the prices we have paid for previous flights to Tenerife at this time of year Flyglobespan where a real bargain so can't really compain about the comfort level. The only thing was the luggage allowance, it was only 20KG including hand luggage, but then again for the price they charge who can complain. I think a smaller luggage allowance is pretty much the norm with low cost airlines. They have started doing single flights to Tenerife now for as little as £49.99 which is going to be great for us when we move out there in July. We will definately use them again.

hi , i was having a look at their website today and the glasgow to sanford flight has bargains going on certain dates in june from £44.50 each way, just in case anyones looking for a last minute flight.
They have business class on the Glasgow to Sandford flights.
Although the new aircraft looks good!! there is a picture of the seats on the website, when you select business class!!!
GSM plan to add 4x 757's and a further 3x 767's to their fleet in the near future.
