I'm really looking forward to trying something new, but what is the food like? I like to steer clear of spicy, but I need my daily fix of fresh fruit and veg!! Are the hotels good on the fresh stuff (we are at the Albena Beach) or will I need to go out and hunt it down myself? Also I have one particularly fussy child who will only drink pure fruit juice (Robinsons at a push) Would it be better to play safe and bring out starter supplies for both fruit and juice?
Thanks for any hints and tips!!
Pam
I don't know about the hotels, but you'll find plenty of places in Albena selling fresh fruit and fruit juice (at a price, compared with 'real' Bulgarian prices) - if you stroll down to Kranevo or take the bus into Varna, you will find more realistic prices (not just for fruit).
Last year, one of my Bulgarian friends, who lives in Varna, went to ask the price of a melon from a roadside fruit seller between Albena & Obrochiste - I nearly had to call an ambulance when he heard the price that the seller was asking!

Thanks Baldur- how long does it take to walk to Kranevo and is it easy to find without getting lost!!?? None of us even the children mind walking and if it's less 'touristy' then it sounds right up our street.
You cant get lost going to Kranevo, I could let my husband find it by himself and he normally needs a piece of string even when at home.
It's 4.754 kilometres (just under 3 miles) by road centre to centre, but your hotel is on the Southern end of the beach at Albena, nearest Kranevo, so it's probably only around a kilometre or so walking along the beach.
There are also frequent (and cheap) buses from the bus atation in Albena to Kranevo, Balchik, Varna & Dobrich = it's around 4 Leva to Varna or Dobrich, can't recall other fares.

Hi Patka and Baldur
Hi Pam, Was is Brugge yesterday so have just read this thread. I have two favourite walks around Kranevo, I will send them to you when I have the details of the Riding Stables for you. Tonyt.
Anyway, can you tell me more about Kranevo please?
I have some plans for this summer

The fruit is in vast quantities over here. It's funny because a lot of it doesn't always look that good but the taste is better than places like Tesco etc. The fresh juices have every flavour you can think of so no need to bring your own.
