It was always my understanding if the FCO advised against travel then it's up to the Tour Operator to either offer an alternative arrangment and/or cancellation plus to advise the passengers. However, it could also depend on when you are travelling - if you're not going until next summer for example, the advice may change by then so they will more than likely be contacting the more imminent departures first of all.

If you're travelling soon, then I would recommend you contact your Travel Agent or Tour Operator depending on how you made your holiday reservation.

This is what the FCO website says in relation to the area you are travelling to:

For this reason, we advise against all but essential travel to the Governorate of South Sinai, with the exception of (i) the Red Sea Resorts including those in the entire region of Sharm el Sheikh, Taba, Nuweiba and Dahab; (ii) road travel between these resorts; and iii) transfers between the resorts and the airports of Taba and Sharm el Sheikh.

According to the above post the FO aren't advising against travel to Taba, they state with the exception of Taba, Sharm etc.

Until the FO actually state no travel whatsoever to the Sinai I believe Thomson's are not under any legal obligation to contact you.

You should really contact THomson's to find out if they will change your booking without charge.

I think if you want to change you will still have to pay the current amendment fee.

It is still deemed safe to travel to the Sinia, including tour operators transfers from airports to resorts. However they are recommending no independant travel between resorts and no trips to St Catherine's.

I missed that bit too Judith although when I did look at the map it was negligible which bit Taba belonged in (the red or the yellow) as it's right on the join...

If it's on the exception list, then I doubt very much the OP will be able to change without being charged a fee.
