Don't think you'll have a case.
When you book early you always run the risk that the price of the holiday might reduce in subsequent brochures or other offers made.
On the other hand, the price may well go up and you would have gained booking early.
It is a gamble you take.

We used to use free childs places extensively and as I understood it from the various salesmen - If it involves free childs places it is expensive so if you don't get them - keep away as there are better alternatives.
They also seemed to release them in stages, ie book early to get the initial lot, then later more would be released to keep people interested.
Comes down to the "are you happy at the price" before you accept.
The TA always said to me that if we didn't want free kids he could find much cheaper better alternative prices, but we were always lucky and got the full allocation at the hotels we wanted.
I think it is a case of as you have booked you are stuck, although you could try the "you told me there were no places available, but there clearly are and so you have missold me route" Sometimes they compromise, sometimes they don't.
Either way enjoy your holiday - and may the case be with you.

With child prices it's always best to check all alternatives to get the best price ie if self catering then check the price for 5 adults as this could vastly reduce the under occupancy supplement, and could be the cheaper option. In some cases when the tour operator gives you a free child the under occupancy can be more than the original child price.
If you haven't done so recalculate the holiday on the tour operators website with a free child and see what the actual total cost would be.

We were going to Turkey next May with my children who will be 15 and 10. Unfortunately, the 15 year old pays the adult price. However, we had to cancel the holiday and re-book for the July school holidays and I got a price on the internet before going to the travel agent. The internet price offered a discount of £369 on the holiday and my youngest child price was £269. On visiting the travel agent, who offered to match the internet price, we found a 'free child place' was now available on that holiday BUT the discount was now only £100. It's not rocket science to work out that the holiday would cost us the same with or without the free child place!
My parents were on the original booking but have now booked separately as the travel agent couldn't offer a discount for them because of the 'free child place' on the booking. A separate booking for them meant they were able to take a discount of £160 on the same holiday.
The 'free child place' we were offered in this instance meant no overall saving on the holiday and i'm sure this is often the case!

Sent an e-mail about been told no free child places available then after we booked they started offering them again. This is the reply I got from first choice.
"Free child places are offered each time a new brochure is launched (April,
August and December) and the number offered is dependant upon sales. At the time you booked, it is quite possible that the all of the free child
places offered had been sold and this is why you were not offered one when you made your booking."
It clearly states above the prices in the brochure "book early for free child places"
I should have booked 3 months later, would have saved me over £300.00.

You could cancel your origonal holiday but it depends if you would still save anything after you pay the cancelation fee.I have seen people do this before and just amend the booking.
It depends on a few things.but may well be worth checking it out.
