Not sure if this is the right forum but have read that the strike at Grangemouth Refinery will bring Scotland to a halt including Airports.
We are due to fly out fom Glasgow on 3rd May and are already worried about having enough petrol to get to and from the Airport. Our flight is at 6.20 in the morning, no public transport can get us there in time. If we pay extra to book a hotel for the night before leaving so that we can use public transport (if taxis, buses have fuel) Trains are not an option where we are. Is there any way we can guarantee that the flight will not be cancelled for lack of fuel.
Many Petrol Stations in our area have already run out of fuel or are limiting to £10 top ups.
Never mind the Credit Crunch. Can anyone advise us about the 'Fuel Crunch'
Helen ... there are lots of scaremongering stories like that in the media at the moment. There are also lots of stories which say fuel stocks are more than sufficient to last through the proposed strike period and beyond, providing that the public do not panic buy as a result of the scaremongering !! I did also hear that airlines have already been advised that where possible, they should refuel their aircraft outwith Scotland.
