That's right David, the creditors are meeting and an announcement is suppose to be forth coming after lunch, so there is little info in the Spanish press at the moment regarding the airlines future, they are just reporting that the airline has declared itself bankcrupt.
The cost of aviation fuel is being held responsible for the Airline declaring bankruptcy.

The Travel Trade Gazette reports only that the airline has ceased operations:

Part of that rescue plan is to reduce their staff from 1, 211 to 600, and a reduction of the fleet from 22 to 12 or 13 planes, but they have to guarantee the security of these operations.

so i could get my flight out ,but maybe not get back?
Hi ianb74 ... it is difficult to predict what might happen tomorrow, much less in the future, especially if reports are correct that the airline's entire fleet has been returned to Palma to protect it from grounding or impounding at other airports. If operations are hopefully restored as of midnight tonight, aircraft and crews may not be in the correct locations for them to immediately resume planned schedules tomorrow. All you can do at this stage is continue to monitor developments and liaise with your travel agent or tour operator.
fingers crossed, cheers
Futura Gael, the Irish subsidiary of Futura Airlines, has now reportedly had its operating certificate withdrawn by Ireland's Commission for Aviation Regulation, following the suspension of the airline's operations at midnight last night. The Irish travel industry is making plans to repatriate package holidaymakers currently stranded abroad as a result of the situation.
Latest I have heard is that they WILL start flying again tomorrow - with half the fleet and half the crew. i cannot substantiate this information further at this stage.
my tour operator has changed my flights to aer europa 13 hours later for outbound flight
I, too, have read that they have been given permission to resume flying again tomorrow.
ive heard they have too,but as they will have 24 hr backlogs and are supposed to be only putting out half their aircraft ,the tour operators are trying to get folk to their destination,at least mine is that i know of,hope anyone else affected gets sorted soon
yep it looks like another ariline as gone
Same airline as per the title of this thread....
The paper is just reporting the impact or knock-on effect felt at various airports due to Futura's present predictament.

And unfortunately they didn't restart ops this morning in Lanzarote
ianb74 .. just in case you happen to look in from holiday, I suspect that you may be a client of Seguro Holidays, which ceased trading today. If so, further information is available for you
We flew to Lanzarote with Futura 6 weeks ago and our return flight 4 weeks ago was delayed and I realised that every Futura flight was delayed. Not sure why but we're now wondering if there was a problem that morning but they managed to get us all home. Sorry to see them go as they were an ok flight.
That may have been due to the ground collision between one of their aircraft and a Lufthansa Airbus in Manchester which put an aircraft out of action for a few days.

Thompson's would sub-contract thier flights out to Futura, especially from Belfast to Palma.
We have used this for our past couple of cruises out of Belfast to Palma.
Anyone heard any news what is happening. ??
Has Thompson's said anything. ??
I sent Thompson's an email yesturday but they have not answered it.

Thomson's sent me an email telling me if I had booked with any of the troubled airlines to go to my local thoomson shop and they would sort it all out. I don't have anything booked but they still sent me an email.
my father in law has just called from Majorca to say that Futura have gone bust! he is waiting on a Thomas Cook flight to take him and his partner home. He should have arrived in Edinburgh at midday now will be home at around midnight, they are lucky that they are covered by abta.
