I understand this hotel only opened last month. Has anyone on here been there yet, or have anything to report about this place?
Any help appreciated.
Hi. I do answer a lot of questions on Altinkum but afraid I cant help you on this one as i've never heard of this hotel. Sorry.
Were off to this hotel with Thomas Cook on June 19th for 2 weeks.
I will let you know what its like on my return.

http://www.holidays-uncovered.co.uk/frames.htm. Sounds good!!!
Hi. Have just read a report on the Garden of Sun
Thanks for that!
hi. I hope you have a great time in Altinkum. Again, i dont know where this hotel is situatedbut I really hope its somewhere central. When my son and i arrive in Altinkum, we feel like we have 'come home', we just love it. So jealous you have only 4 weeks to go, we have 10 weeks to go. Normally we go for 2 weeks at the end of May but this year is my sons GCSE year so I cant take him out of school:( I really don't know why there are not more Altinkum lovers on this site, whoever you meet in Altinkum returns year after year, its just such a great place.
The hotel is situated in front of the Tropicana on 3rd beach.
Its about 1.5 km to the centre of town but the dolmus stop is right outside the hotel and costs 1 lira!
The hotel itself is 5star all inclusive - it has water slides and has sports everyday.
If you love Altinkum go on a site that was recommended to me called absolutely altinkum - lots of great people. Some have apartments there some just return year after year.
We got a bargain with this hotel - 2 adults and 1 child - 2 weeks all inc - £1100 with Thomas Cook and that DIDNT include a free childs place!

Hello, my husband, daughter & I are going to this hotel in August & would value any reviews particularly re facilities for children.
Where do I begin.....
The food is turkish food - they do potato wedges and spag bol and other foods you will recognise and some you wont BUT try them some are really good - we enjoyed it and there was always a guy at night outside on the patio grilling meats etc. The salad bar is always well stocked and is fresh and there are fresh fruits and offer. The dessert counter has mainly turkish style desserts - some beautiful some not so nice - but my Hubby seems to enjoy it all!! And if you dont like anything you can leave it and get something else
The snack bar offers turkish pizza - either cheese or meat - and are delicious. They also do chips, burgers, and pepperoni style pizza. They also do icecream cones in the afternoon.
For children there wasnt a kids club running - I assume its because its was low season - but there was two waterslides and toys for children to play with. The kids disco was every night at 9.30.
The entertainment is not west end stage productions - mainly the entertainment team putting on little shows. They do try hard and they try to get everyone to enjoy themselves. During the day its pool, darts, water volleyball, pool team games, shuffleboard etc - everyone taking part were having great fun.
The rooms are good quality not crampt at all and the air conditioner was very good. The only thing I would say is take coat hangers as there is not much drawer space. Get a room with a sea view as the rear view is not that good.
The internet is 8 lira for an hour.
The hotel shop sells sweets, crisps, chocolate etc but is higher priced than in town but still not more expensive than back home.
The staff are very polite and friendly and the place is kept very clean.
The dolmus leaves from the gate approx every 5 mins and it costs 1 lira (40p) and takes about 4 mins to Dolphin Square.
The restaurants in town offer a wide variety of foods including fish and chips etc - so if your longing for home comforts you will find it here.
All in all we had a really good time and for the amount of money we paid we got a bargain!
Hope this has helped some of you a bit!!

Thanks for that Joolz. That has eased many of my concerns. We fly out on Aug 26 from Gatwick and are really looking forward to it now.
If you think of any more questions by all means ask and I will do my best to answer them.
When you come from the airport you will probably do drop offs in town - take a good look cause then you will realise just how nice the Garden Of Sun is compared to these!!

TC have a great deal for this hotel in 2007,we have been to Al Tinkum a number of times but not recently. Would be appreciated if you could answer the following,(even the daft ones!LOL)
1. Is the entertainmentt/pool games intrusive? (we like a quiet holiday!)
2. Are the balcony and rooms large/small or just ok for 2 people?
3. My wife is a bit of a tea jenny and wants to know if the tea is English or Turkish?LOL!I understand that in some AI hotels it is dispensed through a type of vending machine.
4. lastly and most importantly!is the beer on offer Efes?if not I am definitely not going!LOL!
Thanks you!
Alistair
1. The games around the pool were lively but only happened once a day for about 15mins - hunt the spoons and water polo were the two pool games we saw. They do not pressure you into joining in and the entertainment team is very friendly. The night entertainment is away from the bar area - near the sports court - so you dont really hear it too much.
2. The rooms are plenty big enough for two people - the couple we met had the same room as us - which was a double bed and a single. The balcony is not huge but has a small table and two chairs. Pay the £1 pppn supp for seaview - the other view is not as good!
3. The tea was Lipton tea - the single type with the little string - was nice.
4. Bad news Im afraid its Tuborg not Efes - but it was very cold and plentiful!!! Hic Hic!
Joolz
Many thanks! pity about the Efes but there will be plenty to be had nearby, Sounds good!Going down to TC later, will probably book as it is a good price from Glasgow. Once again thanks!
alistair
Let us know how you get on - try independant agents as well - we got the best offer from Co-op Travel - they beat the TC price and gave us free insurance.
She who must be obeyed has asked a couple more questions, hope you do not mind?! I note that most of the food is Turkish which is fine, however did this include breakfast? very fond of my English breaky!LOL!Also TC say we fly with " Futura" airline, which we have never heard of, did you fly with them?We did go in to book but there were no standard rooms left and they want an extra £80 for a room with a view! worth it????
Thanks again
Alistair
We flew with TC airlines - so cant comment but it must be ok otherwise they wouldnt use them?!
Breakfast - omlettes made to order ask for what ingrediants you like, fried eggs, scambled, boiled, potato hash, sliced sausages in a rich tomato sauce plus salads, cereals, bread, crossaints, cakes, jams, fruits .... NO bacon or pork sausages though - obviously! You can get full english with bacon etc in bars and restaurants some serve it all day.
£80...UMMMM. I think no is the answer - we only paid £14 each for our seaview. The view is a bonus - after all your not going to sit looking at it all day - we had it because it was cheap!!
If you want to ask anything else please do - its not a problem as while Im on here Im not nibbling crisps and chocolate!!
Joolz
Well the deed is done! booked for the 25th June next year, for AI got a reasonable deal from Glasgow. Joolz307? Guess that all of the contents of the mini-bar are payable locally, however can you get bottled water from the bar?TC didn't know. So that is that, did you venture into Dolphin square? is Mr White still there? Thanks for all your help! Really £8 for a cocktail?Guess any adventurous alcoholic experiences will be done outside the hotel!LOL! I'm very fond of a wee Turkish brandy so was sad to note that it to was not on the list of permitted drinks but thats ok, will buy a bottle for the room if it is permitted?Once again thanks!
Alistair and Helen
The mini bar - ummm - its not cold so dont bother and it is payable. The reason its not cold is that it goes off everytime you leave the room. The door card is the electric power card - we tried to put a tesco clubcard (haha) in so we could leave it on but it doesnt work. The door to your room has no key - you wave your card under the handle and then it unlocks! Magic!
Not sure about Brandy - we only drink Gin and Vodka - these were included. The cocktails are expensive - about £6.50 each we were told but were not cocktail drinkers so it didnt bother us.
I do hope you have a good holiday - the hotel will have settled in more as well by then and they will make mistakes this year and learn by them. So you could have an even better time than us!
We did go to Dolphin square and we had a brilliant few nights - in fact Im going back this Monday for a week as we bought a new villa in Yesilkent when we went out and Im going to check all the furniture etc has arrived - Its a tough job but someones got to do it!!! So 3 days and counting!!
Joolz
Ah well! only a year to go!LOL!Although we are going to fit in a week in september in Icmeler, which we both love. Big thanks for all the info! Good luck for your new villa to, hope all goes well!
Alistair and Helen
