Personally i would take the GHD's with the correct travel adapter. I plan on taking mine to Jamaica, I mailed GHD on their website to ask advice on taking them to Jamaica and said no problems, can't see a problem with Cuba.

I agree with Miss Pink, GHD's do tend to work as the latest models are dual voltage. I have tried gas straightners and didn't think much to them at all. They just don't seem to get hot enough.

David,

If your wife's GHD's are dual/worldwide voltage they will perfectly well just like at home, on the inside of the 2 plates near where you hold them, there should be a stamp which will tell you what the voltage of the model is if they say 110-220v they are the dual/worldwide ones.

Regarding the gas straighteners all the reviews I have read said they are very poor in performance and not worth the money, they do not heat up enough.

Hi ladies.

Many thanks for the reply.Unfortunately my wife's GHD's are the older style and are NOT dual voltage. Just my luck to buy her something that actually lasts longer than the guarantee!
I bought a "step up" adaptor for them when we were in the Dom Rep last year and it blew up! LOL, so I'm now considering just having to buy a set of dual voltage straighteners.
Many thanks once again.
