I have read on another forum that the opening date for this airport has been put back.

I read it's due to open in August ths year,will make a big difference, i think it's only 30 minutes to Alanya rather than 2-3hours from Antalya.

Article in Mail on Sunday today regarding property in Alanya area indicated Gaziapasa opening this year but didn't say when. Article thought it would lead to major boom in the area

I live in Antalya and I have heard nothing new about the airport opening....

The new airport is at Gazipasa, 30kms from Alanya.

This airport was granted planning permission to extend the runway to take holiday traffic in Sept 07.

The airport runway is long established, but is in need of terminal buildings etc. to allow holiday flights. Unfortunatley, there seems to have been a lack of progress to date. Initial estimates were that the airport might be open in Mid 08, but it does appear that early 09 might be a bit more realistic.

However, UK charter flight companies might need to see if and when it opens, and what the landing charges might be, before they book slots. I would expect that the first airlines to use this airport will probably be Turkish budget airlines.
