Despite my best intentions, I couldn't resist having another look. It now says that they have cancelled my flight and transferred me to their own BA flight on the same day - the one I asked them to transfer me to but they refused to confirm so I re-booked it myself weeks ago. It does. however, say I can cancel, which I shall obviously do. I only hope they don't cancel the one I booked myself as well.
Just received my confirmation for september.
(Ibiza)
Now: Flying out at 20.40pm on 26/8/08 (Tuesday) returning on Monday at 10.10am!!!)
My 7 night holiday now appears to be 5 days!!!
So they are ditching some of the flights.
That is awful, have you checked Easyjets website to see if they fly anywhere near your original flight times.
I was going to look, but don't know where you are flying from.
Deb.
Unfortunately my optimism was misplaced.:-x Had an e-mail this morning to say I had been transferred and did not need to reply if this was satisfactory, but could phone to cancel if I wished. Can't get through on the phone as the lines are busy all the time and I have no intention of swelling BA's profits any further by hanging on indefinitely. My 'new' flights are now showing on the BA site and when I first looked there was somewhere to 'cancel'. I tried this but it came up with a reply that I couldn't cancel within 72 hours of a previous flight (I haven't flown with BA for the best part of a year!). Tried again and it had changed yet again, no cancel button at all showing. I've sent them an e-mail and got an automated response saying they were grateful blah blah blah and would respond within two weeks. Off out for the evening but will try the phone again tomorrow, failing which, does anyone want a weekend in Tunis in May - flight going cheap!!!
Seems my optimism was also misplaced We decided we have had enough of all this uncertainty and that we would take the cancel option and re-book with Monarch - this has cost an extra £200 but we do get day flights and the meals, drinks, pre-booked seating, IFE etc. that was standard on GB. All good ..... except we are now being told by Thomson that we will need to wait 8 weeks for our refund to be put back on OH's credit card I am unsure whether this is how long BA will take to refund or Thomson themselves.
8 weeks to refund credit card!! That's disgusting! I trust you will be asking them to credit you with any loss of interest etc! Or alternatively why don't you contact the credit card company & claim there s a 'dispute'? I've done this before & received an immediate refund .
Further to my previous post, I've just phoned 'Airmiles' (who I booked through), got through without delay, asked for a refund & she authorised a refund to my credit card immediatley - she said it should appear in 2-3 days. So no idea why Thompson need to take so long.
Basically, we've got a wedding on the Sunday and with other people's hangovers can't make the early Monday flight and if we take the Monday evening flight we will need to book extra accommodation on the first night this will cost extra plus the administration fees for changing. Also paid for two travellodge rooms at Gatwick which can't be refunded
Basically Easyjet buying GB is going to leave many people out of pocket. But I can't see getting any compensation from any of them, they will all blame each other and keep us going around in circles.
Basically we will be heading in the opposite direction by the looks to Manchester. (Living in Gloucestershire this is an option). Now got to go through the hassle of getting a refund!
I can't write what I think of Easyjet, its to rude to go on here!!!
Just had a look at timetable, god what horrible times the flights are. try looking on travelsupermarket.com they price up all the flights, maybe you could find better times with a different airline & cancel yours.
I don't know what else to suggest. Sorry.
Deb.
Just had another thought, how about maybe going out with one airline but coming home on a different one, I know it's fiddly, but could be the answer.
Result. I've just phoned BA again and decided to hold on - only about 15 minutes so it wasn't not too bad. I spoke to a very nice and apologetic lady who said she will send off the refund to my credit card right now. She said the lines have been very busy but it is easing off a little now. I do hope everyone else gets sorted soon.
EasyJet finalises GB Airways takover
EasyJet's £103.5 million purchase of GB Airways has been completed following final regulatory clearances.
The deal strengthens the low cost carrier's position in the short haul sector, operating around 18% of available seats.
GB Airways, which has been sold by Cadogan Holidays parent the Bland Group, had a pre-tax profit of £2.6 million in the year ending March 2007. The airline operates 15 Airbus A320s and A321s.
EasyJet claims that following the takeover, it will carry more passengers from Gatwick than any other airline. The GB Airways acquisition means that easyJet will be offering services from Manchester for the first time.
As part of the integration process, synergy benefits in the areas of overheads, insurance, ground handling, aircraft ownership and ancillary revenues have been identified and over the medium term easyJet will be able to drive further benefit from the acquisition as it optimises its network, the airline said.
"In the current financial year, before exceptional costs of around £12 million, the acquisition will be earnings enhancing," a statement added.
"The integration of GB Airways into easyJet is progressing well - its routes are already on sale via easyJet.com and plans are in place to ensure a smooth transition by GB Airways to the easyJet Air Operators Certificate."
EasyJet chief executive Andy Harrison said: "We are delighted to have completed this transaction and we welcome the GB Airways staff transitioning across to become part of the easyJet team.
"The deal enhances easyJet's customer offering of low cost with care and convenience and will create value for shareholders."

We got the confirmation through the other day for our flights in May to Malaga, we decided to go with easyjet, not to bothered as the flight times haven't changed and the ba flights were the cheapest anyway, ah well!
Are these flights showing in your 'My Easyjet' if indeed you are registered with them, as we have also transferred to them but they are not yet showing in what we have booked.
I have emailed them but had no reply as yet ( & they say they respond within 24 hrs!!! ) that was friday just gone.
Thanks for your help.
Deb.
We are not registered with the myeasyjet thing. We just recieve emails occasionally and documents through the post, we got these ones through the post giving us new flight numbers and times.
I've just checked today and my refund is on my credit card. It isn't showing on the 'internet banking' so I telephoned the bank and they confirmed it had been received. A good result for me as I'm over £30 better off, but I know it has put a lot of people to added expense. Hope everyone still in limbo gets sorted soon.
Hi, just to let you all know, I have now changed to London Stansted to Ibiza (with Easyjet) as every other option was going to cost hundreds of pounds extra. Roughly the same times as originally booked.
We cancelled our flights and were told it would take 8 weeks for the refund to go back onto a credit card but we checked our account online over the weekend and the refund from BA has been made after only a week or so.
We are now happy with our arrangements and can now start to look forward to our holiday at last. Hope everyone else finds a solution.
Cazz
